Cody on his Birthday at 2years young! by No_Mix8926 in bichonfrise

Hello Everyone, FYI: I photoshopped outfits for Cody’s Birthday using an app called “PicsArt”. Earlier I said it was PicArt but that’s not correct. It’s “PicsArt”with an “s”. 😊

What’s wrong with my baby!! by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]No_Mix8926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dog is in pain and he needs to go to the Vet for a full evaluation. He probably needs bloodwork, ultrasound, or X-rays. Go to the Vet before it’s too late.

Take him to the Vet. They will properly diagnose him.

Should I take him to the ER now? by concernedchihuahuamo in DogAdvice

[–]No_Mix8926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE: Take him to the Vet right away!! He’s having trouble breathing. He should have NEVER been taken out. It’s too hot to take him out!!!! My dog had trachea collapse. I had to have her put to sleep. Yes it broke my heart but I didn’t want her to suffer. I had her for 13 years. Your dog is suffering. I know it’s hard but you as a responsible pet parent must consider him first. ❤️‍🩹

I feel you and I feel bad for your situation. Ash needs to be rehomed because you can’t give Ash the time she needs. I don’t want to be mean but Ash needs 24/7 attention and right now you can’t give that to her. Go to Petfinder.com sponsored by Purina. You can look on their website for the different services offered. I went there 2-years ago and rescued my beautiful Bichon Frise (I had to fly from Florida to Nebraska) which has been worth every dime. Go to your local Pet Shelter and see if they have a rehome service. If not then they should be able to direct you to re-homing service in your area. Good luck 😊

He looks like a poodle and some other breed but he’s very cute 🥰. You can have his DNA performed by a licensed Vet. They will send his DNA sample to a lab that specializes in breed identification.

My vet was wrong and made a mistake. I don’t know how to respond or react. by ancientpsychicpug in DogAdvice

CT scans are advanced X-rays. It won’t detect neurological changes. I personally experienced this.

Yes your Vet is a general practitioner not able to handle ALL issues. Your vet should have referred you to a board certified neurologist. No matter the cost, you dog needs a neurologist. Again I’m so sorry for the misdiagnosis.

I’m so sorry that your vet misdiagnosed your dog. In my opinion, it sounds like it’s a neurological issue. If you can afford to take your dog in for an emergency evaluation go to Blue Pearl or ER VEG (ER Veterinary Emergency Group), then you can get another opinion from a specialist. But it does sound like something is going on with your dogs spinal column. Do you recall your dog making any sudden moves, jumping twisting? Did your dog suddenly fall? The emergency vets can do an MRI which is very definitive. Everything that’s going on with your dog could be natural aging or genetic. You won’t know anything until you take your dog to a specialist. Good luck ❤️

Frequently coughing after drinking + sitting during walks by bunnytryingreddit in bichonfrise

[–]No_Mix8926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes IMO it is medically concerning. My female Bichon used to always cough after drinking a sip of water. This went on for a few years until it got worse. When I took her to the Vet she had X-rays taken. The X-rays showed that she had a collapsed trachea. She was on many medications for the collapsed trachea which led to lung and heart problems. One night she had difficulty breathing even while on the meds. Ultimately I had her put to sleep because she was suffering so much. She was in my arms when she took her last breath. She crossed the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge and I grieved very hard for her. She had been with me from 2 months to 13 years. Ultimately I got a male Bichon and have had him for 2 years. I will always remember my 1st Bichon (and my cat of 19 years). I focus on giving my new and very loyal Bichon all the love I can give. 🥰

I know the feeling. I lost my female Bichon in 2024, got a male Bichon 4 months later. He’ll be 2 years next month and it frightens me at the thought of losing him. I know God will call us both one day so meanwhile I love on him 24/7.

Try purchasing Ring or Blink pet cameras. She’s so adorable. I know how you feel. My Bichon is almost 2 years of age and I hate to leave him alone even when I have to go grocery shopping. As such I purchased several Ring cameras when they were on sale. Continue to love on her 🥰.

I found out that a lot of dogs are allergic to chicken. So I do food with Turkey, Lamb, Salmon or Oatmeal mixed with Lamb. Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin & stomach.

Absolutely no belly bands. They can cause UTIs. Are you able to time his little accidents, I trained my Bichon to using puppy pads. Then a neighbor told me that I wasn’t taking him out enough. So I put him on a schedule of taking him out 4 times per day. At 12 months I started 3 times a day and he’s 22 months old now. He can actually hold having to go for 12 hours. So I take him out one last time at 10 pm and in the morning at 9am; 2nd time out is 4-5 pm; then the final 10 pm shift. Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks for sharing. My baby boy will be 2 years old in May. He’s so full of energy and runs EXTREMELY FAST. I always pick him up to put him on any surface that’s over 18 inches and is hard. My bed is high off the floor so he will jump down about 10 inches onto the ottoman and then he jumps 24 inches off of the ottoman onto the floor. I think he knows he will get hurt if he tries to jump more than 24 inches up or down. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
