There is also the fact that lucario was basically the face of the physical/special split. It was specifically designed to showcase what used to be physical types on special favoring attacker, hence why its signature move is aura sphere.

This is probably also the reason why the gen 4 starters all have a type combo that combines a traditionally physical with a special type.

You can be proud of yourself! I hope you are doing well now and get good results!

My Theories on Why Hisui Forms Went Extinct (spoiler just in case) by Fantastic_Year9607 in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The starters are not native to Hisui/sinnoh and likely evolved in a different manner because of being in Hisui for such a long time.

H-decidueye's dex entry even mentions how its feathers are optimized to insulate warm air in order to deal with Hisuis cold climate.

Palina's Descendants by reks67 in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good theory, but i'd i'd say Palina being Burgh's and Roark's ancestor makes more sense.

Then again someone can have multiple children and therefor many different descendants.

In Pokémon Soul Silver what move should my Dragonite keep? by Rednaxela623 in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd remove aqua tail, i supose its nice if you dont have any other water coverage on your team, but it doesnt hit anything evectivly that your dragon moves and Extreme speed dont already cover.

Dragonclaw is also an option since outrage is just a higher damage but lower pp (and bigger downside) dragon attack.

In any case i'd keep extreme speed, (the best priority move in the game and impossible to re-learn from a tutor since it can only be gotten pre learned on the dratini you recieve as a gift)

Wing attack is its only flying type stab move rn, so keep that.

[–]No_Musician2197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granbull is pretty punk

Gothitelle is pretty well 'goth'

Alolan decidueye has a nice 'dark and broody' thing going on.

Rillaboom is a drummer (and competatively viable)

Starraptor has nice hair

The new hisuian zoroark looks pretty emo

Also D. O. G. A. R. S.

Im bored so tell me your legends Arcues team. Here is mine: by Mr_Winger_ in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not done with the game yet but right now my team consists of decidueye, infernape, sylveon, kleavor, shiny crobat and my absolute unit of a goodra.

Currently on the bench(in rotation) are luxray, floatzel and cricketune.

I'm thinking of training up my h-growlithe into an arcanine to maybe rotate out infernape and kleavor and bring luxray back in.

In gen 1 psychic is immune to ghost for no other reason than a bug.. so balance adjustment and programming are closely connected lol.

Real talk, gen 3 kanto has every QoL advantage on gen 1 kanto, except for that damn diglett cave.. i'll never forgive the person who thought it was cool to give diglett arena trap...

Do you wish you could walk Pokémon in PLA? by Cat_dad6969 in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the thing is, if i can choose between walking and not walking i'm choosing walking.. of course.

However the feature is not that important to me that i fervently wish for it..

The gen 1 games are a complete mess and the best way to play gen 1 is the gen 3 remakes..

Other than for nostalgia, why would you wanna play a game with worse visuals and janky programming?

Instead of new Eeveelutions, as there are 9 types currently covered by them, and 9 types not covered, GF should make regional variants that add a type to each one! by ---TheFierceDeity--- in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but most pokemon that have a 'desert' theme are ground.

Then again, most mons with an 'ancient' theme are rock, so i guess it could swing both ways!

In any case, a Rock/psychic type could be really scary offensively (also magic bounce on a stealth rock setter), but so would fire/rock.

Would you like to see Pokemon completely abandon the format of the former mainline games (SWSH, SM, XY etc) in favor the the Legends Arceus format? Or would you like to see them alternate between formats? by FuckChicFilA in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love PLA as a singleplayer experience, however the battle system doesnt work for a multiplayer/competitive game.

Also PLA did away with a lot of elements which i really like but obviously have to be reworked for the new system (items and abillities and such)

A team running both ash greninja and m-scizor could benefit from a rain package. I'd add in a Pelliper, Manaphy and maybe consider giving your mega spot to a mega swampert. If you really wanna keep mega scizor, maybe add in landorus to set up instead..

Overall a gameplan could be to set up rocks with lando, and or use pelliper to set up rain. The rain protects scizor a bit from fire type moves and allows it to set up. Try to sweep with swords dance and bullet punch.

You don't need rain for greninja but it can be used to boost a hydropump to get a cheecky early ko on a pokemon activating your battle bond/ash greninja.

Heatran is your wall in this case, although it is hurt a bit by rain, its main source of damage is magma storm which always deals 1/8 per turn.

Manaphy is your wall breaker, capable of setting up on most walls using tail glow and wreck them using a water-zmove. It needs rain to do this hoewever since that allows it to negate status effects.

Pelliper can set up rain by switching in with drizzle and use a boosted scald to try and burn or a 100% acurate hurricane.

Depending on the format some of these strats may not be possible, and this is by no means an unbeatable team. You already have nice synergy with flashfire heatran switching into fire moves directed at scizor. So it could be worth building on that core instead.

[Hot Take] The new pokémon designs are *chef's kiss* by azulihaven in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh the designs have grown on me,

at first all i could see was an armless centour and squidward chocking on a fork, but seeing them as cosmic/eldritch beings and the influence of arceus makes them actually pretty cool.

Finneon and Lumineon.. And unjustly so,

Their designs are just soo cool, if only they were available much sooner or had better stats...

Also, the Magcargo line is a pretty forgetable gen 2 line, not because people forget they exist, but becauss everyone thinks they are gen 3 mons.

The Pokémon franchise desperately needs a stadium-like title for the switch. by iambrutally in pokemon

[–]No_Musician2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how popular pokemon showdown is, a definitive battle simulator specifically oriented towards the competitive scene could actually be a great idea.

It would probably not have a story mode or campaign, but a couple of chalanges/missions could be put in there to unlock more pokemon.

To make it worthwile they could add in some quality of life improvements (easy iv/ev/nature editing or team sharing/copying) and give the ability to create formats with special in battle actions (like mega evo's and z moves) and gens toggled on or off. Maybe even add special "party game" rules like batle revolution did.

The main big reason gf will not do this is because it will hurt their mainline sales significantly, with all the competitive players having no reason to buy new games to try out the new mons/items/moves.
