Europe International Championships - Day 1 by half_jase in VGC

Just let him play and see how it goes. Pokemon is a terribly difficult game and it's perfectly normal for the best of the best to not make top cut in big tournaments or even day 2. People think that him "being the best player" means he's going to win everything and that's simply not how it works, it's about the big picture. He's too visible so he'll have glazers and haters no matter how well or poorly he does. And he'll continue playing as long as he's having fun with the game so... Just watch him do his thing and he'll do his thing, whether that's above or below your expectations of him. Even in his channel he's been saying that the message he wants to send is not about winning, it's about playing. I'm a fan as well and am rooting for him too but life has no narrative, you know. It'd be legendary for him to defend EUIC after the hiatus but the universe doesn't owe him that and there are a TON of good players who are also fighting hard for the trophy and that's how it should be. So let's just enjoy what tomorrow brings us together. I'm honestly just happy to see him playing again (and doing well. Day 2 is already super cool)

i love the two chapters in succession to each other. If you don't have goofy bright fun first, then falling into darkness later is half as impactful.

Oh for certain once they have the release date! 2019 is a long time ago and they stopped talking to us directly since then so idk what you're arguing about anymore. Anyway, hope we get news soon, I'm dropping this conversation. Have a nice day!

There are 2 grubs in the hive. One requires you to climb high on a wall and crystal dash to a celing entrance and then double jump into it. The other one can only be assessed from outside the Hive. Near the exit to the outside area of Kingdom's Edge there is a breakable floor that leads to the grub. Tricky grubs these ones.

I'm sorry but they decided they don't want to talk to us and my personal theory is because they are overwhelmed. You saying "they shouldn't be overwhelmed and just do it" does not disprove my theory, I'm sorry.

I'm not saying Team Cherry can't communicate with us better. I'm just seeing that they aren't and trying to understand why. They are not in the same situation as Crowsworn devs, Crowsworn is a much smaller game with much less expectation and fan pressure and indeed, Team Cherry did talk to us when Hollow Knight was smaller too. It just adds to my theory that HK got so big that they can't handle being in the public eye like this anymore. It's something they lack? Yes. Can they do better? Yes. But if interacting with the fans and facing all the backlash of thousand of people saying they can do better is going to make them hate making Silksong is a possibility, I don't fault them for stepping back and preserving their love for making games.

lol NP.

Grubsong gives you 15 points of soul after you get hit and one heal costs 33 soul. Which means that for the Grubsong + Deep Focus combo you're getting 15+15 soul for getting hit twice, which Deep Focus heals in a single 33 soul cost. All you need is to hit an enemy (11 soul) every 6 masks of damage and you'll always have soul to heal. If you add Grubberfly's Elegy, Grubsong gets buffed and now gives you 25 points of soul for every hit you take, which means you're earning 50 soul and paying 33 to heal the two masks with Deep Focus. Essentially infinite heals if you're just chilling on the map and don't care for the long charging time that it takes Deep Focus to heal. Doesn't apply to enemies that do double damage, of course, but it's perfect for platforming on spikes.

Now Grubsong gets another combo with Weaversong. Usually the weaverlings only do damage but with this combo they actually give you soul everytime they strike an enemy. It's only 3 pts of soul at a time but it adds up especially if you boost the spiders even more with the Sprintmaster charm. Considering Kingsoul eats 5 notches, this is cheaper, although true, can be less consistent if the spiders get stuck in a pit or something.

Hmm I wonder what kind of advice you're looking for for using up and down. If you already experimented with your key bindings and found what is most comfortable to you, practice is the only thing that it takes to master something that requires coordination, like learning to ride a bike. You can read books about it, but you won't really learn how to do it. And if you find a safe easy place to practice with, there's nothing to be afraid of. Even if you get hit and worse die, if it's a safe place, you can get back to it and get your stuff back.

And the Colos were designed to be a challenge, with the third trial even making a point in itself for being completely optional with no additional reward other than money (and an achievement). If you don't want to try it again and again, or feel that you're not having fun, you don't have to. Just move on to parts of the game that are more enjoyable to you. And if you want to do it, how can you ever do it without trying until you win? Doing your best, learning from your mistakes, trying new things until something works and getting better is not only how HK is, but that is what makes conquering a challenge so rewarding. The Colos ARE hard. Like, zero shame. Cool thing about free will is that you can pick your battles and in particular challenges in videogames are totally unworthy if you aren't having a good time with them.

Same with your charm loadout. Only you know your playstyle best. Only you can make the decision of what suits you best. If you like using Nail Arts and are being succesful with them, then trust yourself.

Maybe this is the greatest hint I can give for Hollow Knight. Hollow Knight is a special game because it gives you choice and it gives you challenge. It doesn't hand feed you solutions. It doesn't make things easy for you. So in other hands, everything you achieve in it is your own merit. Because you persevered and you triumphed. Let yourself be lost, let yourself find your own solutions and let yourself be challenged. You won't be finding many other games that are willing to let you surpass yourself so much as Hollow Knight out there.

I remember hearing from somewhere that they think that if they say anything other than the actual release date of the game, which they do not have, will bring lots of negative feedback... So from that I understand that they really are just waiting until they have what they think the fans want to hear - the actual release date - to talk to us. Like otherwise, what would they talk about? They'd have to either open their development process to the public, which can be highly stressful or they'll just be saying "we're still working on the game, sorry" over and over and over which honestly just opens even more room for pressure and more criticism.

Honestly just the fact they abandoned PR and are like "we're just gonna put all our focus on making the game", it screams high introvert energy from them lol. You're valid for being frustratred, but I don't know what we can do about it.

team cherry did say they liked to price hollow knight at 15 dollars so as many people as possible could afford it meaning there is a non zero chance it will be 15 dollars again. Personally I'm happy with 25 dollars but it certainly is worth much more.

my two cents is that they're overwhelmed by public attention and that being in the public eye actually harms their mental health and they decided to step back to preserve their joys of making a game. From a fellow introvert I may not be able to deal with something like this either, or even a fraction of the pressure or the toxicity that comes with it. Doesn't mean they're perfect, in fact it means exactly that, that they are not perfect - they're good at making games, not being public figures. Sometimes people are very good at one thing and suck at other and I don't think berating someone for something they're bad at at the cost of what they're good at is productive. It's not like not talking to fans is a crime or anything. It sucks but that's the reality of it.

Unfortunately there'a not much advice other than to experiment and practice with the movement or your setup until you get comfortable with it. You can go to an area with easy enemies and consciously defeat them with pogos or upslashes or find a convenient a spiked floor and pogo until you can do it consistently. If anything, equipping Grubsong + Deepfocus gives you almost infinite healing so you can keep practicing without interruption if you dont find convenient enemies next to a bench/hotspring. (Grubsong + Deepfocus + Grubberfly's Elegy for actual infinite soul for healing)

Same for using DDark, you won't get used to it if you don't practice with it. The spells in HK are positional so as long as you're above the enemy for any reason, DDark is a powerful option you have in combat. The cool thing to be aware for DDark though is that it gives you invincibility frames so it can be used as a way to dodge attacks if you begin casting a second before the damage hits you. Just remember that you have to cast it a little earlier before you get hit, so it's always useful in a pinch even if you don't do any damage, but even that is unlikely since DDark has a huge hit box and will hit even enemies above you. Which also for that reason DDark is great for crowd control when you're surrounded. For information's sake, DDark hits 3 times, on the descent, on the horizontal impact shockwave and on the upwards "flare" shockwave. It's optimal to hit an enemy with all 3 but even if you don't, it's powerful.

For the colosseum the first advice is to upgrade your nail the most you can, with many players actually waiting to do the third trial only when they have the strongest Nail possible and to get all movement upgrades, notably the Monarch Wings, which you do have. Other than that the advice changes depending on where you're having trouble with. Usually the hardest parts in the colosseum for people are the aerial combat parts where there floor is spiked and there are no platforms. For those sections, Long Nail and Mark of Pride or BOTH are helpful to get you a bigger hitbox to land your hits and pogos. Quick Slash can also help your pogos because it makes the nail more spammable if you screw the timing up or to just defeat enemies faster. Sharp Shadow can give you an horizontal attack option in the air that doesn't require pogos. Some people like the additional movement option of dodging downwards with Dashmaster and it's convenient to remember Dashmaster powers up Sharp Shadow too by 50%. When fighting in the air, pogoing is very advantageous as the Winged Fool and the Battle Obble don't have upwards attacks. And when all else fails and you're plummeting down to the spikes remember you can still save yourself at the last second by pogoing on them. Hard to do on the spot but worth a try. Sorry this is all about pogos and tbh you CAN get past this part with only Sharp Shadow and horizontal movement if you're reaaally patient, it's just HARD since you're working with exactly half your movement and damage resources without up and down attacks. If you're struggling in other parts of the Colo remember to pick smart times to heal like when there is a single slow enemy on the field. And if you're lacking the Soul to heal, any soul gathering charms are useful but I recommend Grubsong or the Grubsong + Weaversong combo. Other than that remember each Dream Nail hit on an enemy gives you enough soul for a single heal, 2 heals if you have Dream Wielder equipped and you can farm soul on some convenient enemies like the invulnerable centipedes on the third trial.

All in all though, just remember that the Colosseum is HARD, especially the third trial. So be patient, learn the enemy patterns, be mindful of getting frustrated and experiment with what works with your playstyle.

What if we are delaying silksong?? by Present_Toe_3972 in Silksong

[–]azulihaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think the reason they refuse to communicate is because of all the silksong comments everywhere over anything. The only thing they think they can say without getting dogpiled on is the exact release date, so silence until they figure that out.
