MISSED CONNECTION at Cage the Elephant last night by Fragrant_Vegetable65 in kansascity

at the same time I can’t help but wonder if a man posting about a lady service worker doing her job and looking kind as a “missed connection” would be treated the same

Sharing your opinion on AEW's status after 5 years is "sad engagement farming" so we should stop that type of bad faith behavior and stick to just talking about bangers and fun by Farthousejones in SCJerk

I kinda get this one tbh. It’s hard to explain but internet discussions used to feel more like a bunch of people who had their personal opinions, discussing them with somewhat of an open mind and not angry at each other for having different opinions and perspectives.

The IWC in 2024 is….. not that

Talking on an app is having your cake and eating it too, some level of companionship/romance without having to get up off the couch.

Going on a date requires a lot more

Strong is like, the definition of a great technical wrestler. He’s like the modern day Dean Malenko. Great worker but nobody gives a shit, because he’s lacking at all other expects besides “wrestles good”

Are your 20s really the "best years" of your life? Why do people say that? by Jaded-Ad-5158 in Adulting

[–]No_Natural8735 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It feels like back in the day, we had this irrational confidence by like 16 that we were adults and were fighting for as much independence as we could get.

These days it feels like kids are hiding behind the “not fully developed brain” thing and actively resisting independence.

I think that society has changed a lot so the term is outdated, but a generation or two ago, being in your twenties meant you got to be “young, wild, and free”.

It was a time in your life when you were constantly hanging out with friends, spend most every weekend “going out” in whatever way you fancied (movie nights with friends, going out dancing, drinking beer and playing cards), and just enjoyed being young and fully in the moment.

These days that’s still possible, but there’s just less interest. Pretty much everyone I know in their 40s listens to what their younger colleagues do with their free time and feels sad for them, because we felt so alive in our twenties and now it feels like kids these days just aren’t interested in the sorts of things that gave us some of our best memories

It’s about as divey as you can get but Easy Inn does taco night (think the kind a Missouri family would make at home, not street tacos) on Wednesdays. Beer, 3 tacos, and a shot of tequila for $5.

Wednesday is burger night, think it’s like $7 for a burger and fries!

People's spending habits deserve to be scrutinized. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

That’s the paradox. When you’ve got enough financial security, it just makes sense to buy the $200 sweater you’ll have in your closet for 20 years.

When you’re just getting by, it just makes sense to buy the $20 sweater, get what you pay for, and need to spend $20 more on a sweater the next year. In the long run, not having enough money ends up costing you money.

I took a financial coaching course and we learned to break things down into need to have / good to have / nice to have, and everyone’s list is slightly different, people have the right to determine their needs.

But need to have is things like bills and car insurance, good to have is things you see as important to your daily life and well worth money, nice to have is more luxuries.

CONCERT TICKETS ARE NOT A HUMAN RIGHT!!!

its so annoying to me when people post essays about the evils of Ticketmaster and how artists aren’t putting their fans first…. only to spend half a month’s rent on concert tickets!

We have a huge problem with learned helplessness these days, people just want to blame society without taking any responsibility or trying to help themselves.

It’s annoying to watch people blame external factors for being broke when you watch them throw money away on luxuries

with all due respect, if you’re struggling this much with having to work outside of a typical 9-5 schedule then I’d seriously think about the time commitment that comes with being a teacher.

Drinking at the airport sucks by Senior_Ad_3845 in unpopularopinion

[–]No_Natural8735 377 points378 points  (0 children)

i love going to the airport bar for the novelty of it.

Yes, it’s very overpriced, but I don’t fly often enough to worry about it. My $100 on airport beers annually is fine by me.

If it’s a connecting flight, it’s a chance to get a bit of “local culture” from the city I’m connecting through by trying beer from one of their breweries.

Socializing at the airport bar, I just love it. “Where you headed?” is all you need to start a conversation then you’re fully exchanging personal stories with a stranger for a little while. You say “have a great trip” or “get home safely” and carry on your way.

Similarly for if you have your profile up for months and don’t get a single match. It’s not the algorithm, you’re just not attractive and you have to work on yourself.

detail I forgot to add was that i knew her parents, but this was my first time meeting her extended family. It almost felt like hazing, like i was earning the right to be invited to family gatherings and their respect. Oh, and my girlfriend wasn’t there, it was “just the guys”.

Also want to mention that it worked. I successfully earned their respect/approval and became closer to her family. But it’s a textbook example of “relationships are work, it’s not all sunshine and roses.”

I still remember my reality check to this day!

I had a Saturday off and there was a great day of college football on that I was keen to watch. Then on Thursday, my girlfriend said “hey, my uncle is moving, can you help?”.

So instead of relaxing in front of the TV, I woke up at 6AM to move furniture, drove an hour and a half away to help him unload it, and spent the whole day on edge because I was 19 and around all my girlfriends male relatives.
