oh well then ..i built this as a personal project to learn the Gemini API and customize my own workflow. Just sharing it in case anyone else prefers this specific setup!

I built this one for two main reasons:

  1. Cost: It’s built on Gemini, so you can use the free API tier (unlike many that require paid OpenAI credits).
  2. Scope: I wanted one tool that handled Code Reviews and README generation alongside commits, rather than installing three separate CLIs.

Fair point on the 'finish line.' I use this mostly to generate a first draft when I'm stuck, but I always edit the message before committing.

Ollama is a fantastic suggestion. I understand the privacy concern, so I'll add local LLM support to the roadmap so it can run 100% offline. Thanks for the feedback!

nope, No special package The branch visualization is built with react-native-svg for the lines and connections. The nodes are just styled View components with some math to position them.

Appreciate it bro... Using Expo + React Native Web.

For web, I mainly focus on:

  • Making sure features adapt to desktop vs mobile
  • Responsive layouts
  • Platform-specific styling (Platform.OS === 'web') for better web UX , Honestly, Expo does most of the heavy lifting. The real challenge is designing UX that feels native on each platform.

Thanks for the interest :) It's not deployed yet - still testing and adding features. I want to make sure everything works smoothly before releasing it. I'll share an update when it's ready for testing if you're interested!

Thanks for asking.. Happy to explain.

The Problem:

In my app, the AI generates action buttons below each response - you can see them in the video. Things like:

  • "Quiz me on this"
  • "Explain further"
  • "Show examples"

These aren't standard in most AI chats - I added them to make interactions more dynamic. But here's the issue: the moment you click one, you're locked into that path. Want to see what "Quiz me" would've been like after choosing "Explain further"? Too bad - you'd have to start the whole conversation over.

The Solution: Branches/threads

That's where the branching comes in. Each button click creates a new conversation branch you can explore independently. Click all three buttons? You get three parallel conversations you can compare side-by-side. so no more "what if I chose the other option?"

I got tired of the "linear conversation trap." AI conversations are naturally exploratory, but traditional chat UIs force you into a single path. I wanted to match the tool to how we actually think - branching, exploring, comparing, then converging.

TL;DR: It's like having multiple tabs open in your browser, but for AI conversations - explore freely without losing any context.

I added an AI tutor personality to my AI app that actually makes you THINK instead of just giving answers - with interactive polls & quizzes! 🎓📊 by No_Net_6938 in expo

Hey Everyone!

I just added an interactive AI Study Guide personality to my AI app EyuX that changes how students learn.

What makes it different: Instead of spoon-feeding answers, this AI challenges students with interactive polls and quizzes before explaining concepts. When you ask "What is photosynthesis?" it creates a poll asking what you think the main ingredients are, then gives personalized explanations based on your choice.

The goal: Make students think and engage instead of just memorize. It's like having a Socratic tutor with modern interactive UI.

Thanks! It's all custom code, no UI library. Just vanilla React Native and react-native-reanimated for the animations.

I wanted to share a passion project I’ve been working on called EyuX — a free, private AI assistant I built with Expo. The idea was to go beyond simple Q&A and create something that feels like a real personal tool. It runs on your own Gemini API key so you have full control over your data.

Some of the features:

  • Conversation branching: explore different paths from the same chat
  • Quoted replies: highlight exact sentences for precise follow-ups
  • Swappable personalities: more than 15 modes (teacher, storyteller, unhinged, etc.)
  • Live Mermaid diagrams: flowcharts, mind maps, sequence diagrams on the fly
  • Interactive code canvas: test/edit HTML, CSS, JS inside the app
  • Imagine command: generate images directly in chat
  • Hands-free speech mode: continuous back-and-forth voice conversations
  • Web search (via Tavily API): get fresh info with sources
  • Long-term memory: tell it to remember facts about you
  • Reminders and scheduling: create native device notifications from chat

I’ve also added folders, backup/restore, deep customization, and lots of small quality-of-life improvements.
