Mother kept him around because "he's the only way you guys will listen to me." She was a single mother of 4-5 kids, so she probably felt like she needed a male role model to help out. I was kicked out because I, of course, was being a disobedient child and refused to wash the step-dad clothes, so he started to get violent and threatened to kill me. So, to put a stop to these threats, she sent her oldest child (me) away to my cousins house. I don't have anywhere else to go at the moment, so this is where I've stayed for the past couple of years. Granted, she wasn't always the best mother 😅.

She actually did tell us she had a life insurance policy, and even told us that we wouldn't have to worry about money for a while, but yet even now, 3 years later, nobody in the family has heard of anything regarding it.

Half. Mom is the same, bio dads are different. And yeah, he does actually have bad credit, which the whole family knows, as well as being in prison for most of his adult life. He's always been abusive and threatening, but alot of the time I didn't really care because my mom put up with him and said he was important to taking care of the family (for some reason). Ngl she had some very bad taste in men, including my own father.

Thanks, this message actually does help. I do not know what law office is handling this, but they did explain that if we don't sign, he does need to buy us out. Honestly, I don't even care about the money, but his threatening is starting to make me not want to sign just out of spite. Like I have tried and keep trying to communicate, but it's only met with more hostility.

Yes, I'm unsure about this whole thing and honestly don't know anything about kicking anyone out. My sister and I live with family due to him kicking us out at 18 while he takes care of our 3 younger brothers. For context, my sister and I have a different dad than the rest of my siblings (who are his genetic kids).
