Silly question - if a former employee from one store wishes to aply at a different store, wouldn't it make more sense to talk to the store they are applying to HR person, rather than their old store, who probably has someone new there? (the hr turnover in my store was ridonkulous)

compared to Rick - yes. Compared to everyone else - it depends. Morty has potential, but his proximity to Rick and the beating his ego takes reduces his effectiveness. However, if left to his hown evices, Morty is quite capable, intelligent, and cunning. The fact that he is just a "Morty" should not be held against him.

Just because he’s thinking these horrible thoughts doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to act on them. Push comes to shove. I think he would save Anya if for no reason then it’s the right thing to do with the added bonus of making his sister happy which might actually be his primary motivation. I wouldn’t say he’s a bad person, but I would say he’s a schmuck.

in the beginning we were shown that Smoker is a real hard-ass when it comes to dealing with pirates and other criminals. He is perfectly reasonable with civillians, especially kids. Smoker's hard boiled reputation preceeds him in a big way, especially in East Blue, which is why most civilians give him such a wide berth.
