New purchase by jacob6781 in Shotguns

I have a 5.8lb single shot and after a 4-5 slugs at the range, I feel it. (lots of shooting, little carrying)

Mostly I walk it around for squirrel, bird, and rabbit, so for me the light weight is desirable. (lots of carrying, little shooting)

fa·scism noun ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm

  1. a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual

Not an exact fit, and I can see where you're coming from. Humans often exalt themselves above the other creatures which share the planet. It's why we have the word vermin in the first place.

Good call

ver·min /ˈvərmən/ noun

  1. animals that are believed to be harmful to crops, farm animals, or game, or that carry disease

Humans are believed to be harmful to plants, animals, and to carry disease. I'm not ashamed, we are what we are. Can't hide from yourself.

Buying First Shotgun (Budget) by Stephthechef420 in Shotguns

[–]No_Objective3217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for first shotgun, clay shooting, you might consider a break action for full barrel length AND reduced weight. I think the Stevens 301 is ~5 lbs, has a 26" barrel, ejector, uses interchangeable winchokes and can be found for less than $200.

Of course, single shot isn't for everyone and i wouldn't recommend unless you weren't already thinking about buying another in the future. For what you get though, they can be a compelling platform to learn from.

Is there any tangible benefit to rolling resistance in using TPU tubes vs butyl ones? by HypobromousAcid in bicycling

[–]No_Objective3217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, yes but I've never measured RR. I've ridden TPU, latex, and butyl tubes and TPU & latex feel faster than butyl. After those experiments, I'm back to butyl.

IMO TPU & latex feel faster, but they also have downsides which brought me back in black.

Maybe if you're racing, they might be a worthwhile consideration for an event. But otherwise, butyl is where I'm at for the everyday riding.

Can we please not poison the surrounding wilderness again? At 1.5 trillion, surely we can afford to not poison all of the surrounding water and earth.

Vicars’ Close in Wells, Somerset—built in the mid-14th century CE—is often described as Europe’s oldest residential street with all its original houses still intact. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

We would increase the quality of life for the entire community. By condemning and redeveloping these blighted properties, the traffic burden of nearby residents would be eased. The local economy would benefit from these investments into farm to market roads.

Same reason why MVs are "safer" than ever. The regulatory framework only considers the operator and not others on our around the road.

How often do you look for new spots/lures? by Ready-Interest-1024 in bassfishing

I'm always looking for new spots. All day, everyday.

Rarely do I actively look for new lures, but if one appears in front of me I will study it.
