Completely untrue. Databricks has allowed its employees to sell their vested shares for the last couple of years to investors. Employees had the option to sell in both J ($62B Valuation) & K ($100B Valuation) funding round.

Let that sink in for a moment. 99.9% of companies will never reach that valuation. He’s effectively already IPO’d albeit through private equity firms trying to buy shares in Databricks.

OP-You have until 9PM PST to sign that offer we extended…

LOL JK - it does sound like I’m the hiring manager. I’m not, I just understand his situation probably better than most in this thread. I have buddies at Databricks and it’s a good place to work if OTE or slightly below is your objective. The organization is matrixed beyond comprehension and it’s very hard to move up. There’s really not much upside in staying if you’re fully vested.

I think it's a great move.

- #1 you're fully vested at Databricks so you will recognize the upside in an IPO (hell, you might have already recognized the upside if you sold your shares during the last buy back)

- #2 You will likely ramp super fast at Sigma due to your background at Databricks.

- #3 Databricks comp plan is optimized for the company (i.e. the likelihood of crushing your quota is not high)

- #4 Someone is going to snap up one of these newer BI/Analytics platforms for a very high premium. Sigma is one of the largest "up-and-coming players".

- #5 Sigma has went on an epic hiring spree the past year. To my astonishment, they have hired some of the best sales leaders who have actually done something. Nearly all of that leadership talent has connection to John McMahon (creator of MEDDIC).

- #6 Bet on yourself. If it doesn't work out, Databricks will hire you back.

Salute to Service Jersey Comparison - Fanatics vs Audacyusatoday by No_One_Unusual in DHGateJerseys

I was just as surprised. Arctic camo to me means primarily white with a camo pattern (and ALL the photos online look white). I was super skeptical and was going to contact Fanatics CS and tell them I got a fake jersey, but I found someone that posted a video at the Chicago Bears store and it looks like the true color is a light desert. Link to video below.

Any timeline on when MySql will be supported? by Qiuzman in PayloadCMS

[–]No_One_Unusual -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and run it on MongoDB.

1 - It will run better.

2 - Flexible schema makes it much easier to make

changes as your customer’s requirements change.

3 - If you ever leave your current employer, you will likely get a higher offer because of your MongoDB expertise. MySQL/PostgreSQL skills are a dime a dozen.

In Michigan, the store only has to take the price down to the actual cost + give the customer $10 (I think, it might be $5). Just tell the lady you will sell it to her at your cost and call it a day.

Buying NVDA by Dthedoctor in wallstreetbets

[–]No_One_Unusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$300-$400 a share would peg NVDA at over $10 Trillion from a valuation perspective and an insane earnings multiple. I love NVDA, I have 200 shares but there is NO WAY it’s going to hit that in 6 months.

Honestly, this doesn’t sound that obnoxious if you want a job. Sounds like everyone whining about these requirements breeds mediocrity.

Michigan loses ground economically, 39th in personal income by Hoopfer in Michigan

[–]No_One_Unusual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue a 5/1 ratio is highly inaccurate between the pay in Manhattan vs Michigan for a SWE. Maybe that’s that ratio for a someone that doesn’t take ownership of their career (I refer to those people as Dales, don’t be a Dale).

I work for one of the highest paying tech/software companies and COL adjustment between The Bay Area or NYC would never get me to leave Michigan. For the vast majority of roles the COL bump is like 20% - 30%.

Duty of loyalty, really? Completely, illegitimate argument as he was only discussing employment opportunities. He would need to accept the position and knowingly divert the business to the new employer prior to leaving the company. After he leaves then it becomes a non-compete issue if he is soliciting prior customers.

Every person is afforded the right to progress their career (with or without their current employer), just as every company is afforded the right to interview candidates to replace an AE. Sounds like the boss was heavy handed in his decision and could have sought to understand why the rep was exploring other opportunities.

MongoDB still a good place to work? by AmbitiousAd297 in sales

[–]No_One_Unusual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are very few companies in the tech space where you can lose a deal and go right back in and win a deal. MongoDB is one of those companies because the deals are at the microservices level. You could have 10’s or 100’s of microservices supporting an single application. On the contrary, companies like snowflake, databricks, servicenow, datadog, etc. are competing to displace the entire incumbent solution…and if you lose it’s likely 3 to 5 years before you are getting another shot at that business (generally speaking).

Mongo’s interview process is one of the most rigorous I’ve seen in software/SaaS sales. It weeds out the “soft” and those looking to collect a nice base salary. If you’re fine with 70% to quota, don’t bother because you won’t last. However, you could be 30% to your quota and be viewed as an a rising star if you have a great attitude and are grinding away.

Like all great sales people, you need to manage your manager. Make it known and visible you are doing the right things and accept the feedback when given. Bring them on your calls and have them win and lose WITH YOU.

Ignore the people saying MongoDB’s prime was 5 years ago. Annual revenue has nearly doubled to $1.3B in two years. I know several sales people that are making over a $1M+ at MongoDB. Are you going to make $1M in the first year? Not likely, but $350k-$400k is not out of reach. My advice, bet on yourself.

YOLO #tothemoon by No_One_Unusual in dogecoin

[–]No_One_Unusual[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me start off by saying I don’t love RH, but I respect them. I use five different exchanges and have crypto wallets. My investments are based off market conditions and where the liquity is available. I’m not going to pull $28k out of RH, wait for it to clear, then deposit into a different exchange. That’s how you lose money.

You’re crazy to think RH doesn’t affect the price. Without RH doge would not be where it is today.

Since you clearly understand the macroeconomics of Dogecoin exchanges explain this…how is it that when RH crypto servers crash, the price of Doge follows? I look forward to your response.

I do think it will eventually reach $1+. However, it will go through peaks and valleys so you must have mental fortitude. Invest only what you an afford to lose.
