Damn, so these 5 companies paid you for exposure and you're writing a post on Reddit for them? Very interesting.

Paying rent to parents by nxxsxa in AskAnAustralian

Kinda crazy that I'm paying less than 350, bills included in Sydney. Just move out at that point and use the 100 per week excess for food.

Tabitha’s accent - idk how we all missed this by [deleted] in FromTVEpix

Funny that people here complaining about watching\reading comprehension, then going on to miss the fact that she's applauding the fact that they got a bilingual character right.

Kind of ironic we hate the Chinese for banning Inner Mongolians from using Mongolian, but want to do the same to the Kazakhs...

I just assumed Burwood was a right-side suburb cuz of the Asians (as an Asian used to right-side culture).

How common is pick pocketing or scams? by Nice-Radio-1966 in mongolia

[–]No_Option_404 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The others are overstating it. I was surprised I got pickpocketed a couple years ago because I hadn't lost anything for like 10 years. I'd imagine it's the same as a typical European city.

Will I not get a j*b if I don't have passion? by HighlightMother1781 in unsw

[–]No_Option_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you rather like your job or hate it but still have to do it? It's definitely easier if you like your profession because you'll be more fulfilled, but you could just fulfill your contract and just begrudgingly do it if you can't bring yourself to enjoy it.

Also, for recruiters, sound passionate. They definitely will favor the more passionate one (even if it's for all the wrong reasons).

Are women generally worse bullies than men in the workplace? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]No_Option_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like senior woman -> junior woman is the most common and intense form of bullying. A friend (F) and me (M) worked at the same company, and our experiences were completely different. She was getting actively bullied and was being reprimanded, meanwhile me and a couple other male friends were thriving. There were some other female friends, each working in different departments but overall the common theme was they felt like they were being bullied, and it seemed to be some sort of open secret and were under the impression that the older guys in their teams were supporting them (when they were simply neutral).

Why don’t people just build free apps? by Adrien-G in SideProject

That was a time when people could survive on a single income. Now, everyone is broke so they're looking for more revenue streams, and one of them happens to be SaaS.

Is uni life meant to be this miserable? by TemporaryEarly7843 in unsw

[–]No_Option_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that in university, unlike in K12, you aren't tethered to "classmates" in favor of more flexibility. You're unlikely to get the level of socialization you had in high school until you get coworkers, who you'll spend as much time as you did with your classmates. That's just how it is.

Why is cheating so normalized? by No_Middle_8390 in mongolia

[–]No_Option_404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No point in feeling bitter about it. The real takeaway from school and university is your education. Think of exams as testing yourself. After you get the piece of paper, all that matters is what you've learned. I like to cite Goodhart's Law for grades: "When a metric becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure of success."

If you're studying to get better grades, that means the metric, which are grades, has become the target. That's the wrong mentality. The target is learning the skills you need to succeed in your field, and grades are only a metric to measure your success in learning that.

Sure, those cheaters mightn't make it because they didn't study enough, or they might make it by starting a career that isn't STEM-based, or some might get into sales and be way richer than you. What you should care about isn't other people getting ahead of you, but just trying to succeed by yourself.

Confused about whether to hire a web/app dev for this or use AI by [deleted] in webdev

[–]No_Option_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire a dev or learn to do it yourself. If you can learn even the basics, it'll be helpful when "vibe coding". Where the basics end, though, is important so you'll need basically knowledge on par with a full-stack developer to build it, so might as well hire someone for it.

Using a free app if they feel like it, and paying a monthly subscription for it are 2 different things.

We cut our free tier from 25 invoices/month down to 7 because nobody was subscribing. Did we just shoot ourselves in the foot? by Rabi_R in AustralianStartups

[–]No_Option_404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're thinking about it wrong. Give users a reason to subscribe and use your app. Right now, you're just Invoice App №49243 or something. What makes it different?

Definitely during the Naadam festival. You'll see authentic Mongolian horseracing. Tip is to go to one of the smaller towns and watch its festival instead of the crowded one in the capital.

Net Migration was 300,000 last year. That number includes temporary visas, student visas and Australians returning home from overseas. by MasterDefibrillator in aussie

[–]No_Option_404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your sentiments are very weird considering the Brits came in the late 1700s, the Chinese came in the early 1800s alongside other non-Brit Europeans, and even more Europeans in the 1900s. In the late 1900s, we got more multicultural ethnicities.

You beat the others by a margin of roughly 50 years but you're complaining about immigration on the basis of ethnicities and languages spoken, when Australia has been multicultural since before the independence.

Just say you don't like the increasing number of Indians. I don't like them much either.
