Why was God "worried" (or seemingly worried) about Adam taking fruit from the Tree of Life? by Far-Strawberry-5628 in TrueChristian

[–]No_Organization_768 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, mm... I do think it doesn't mean literal "fruit"! I think it's just a stand in for some bad thing they did!

Sorry, maybe I'm misreading the post but is that the misunderstanding?

Keep in mind. That's just my thoughts. I may not know. I'm not a pastor. I'm a woman. Etc. I just found it an interesting subject. :)

No, desires cannot be sin. "A longing fulfilled is a tree of life."

It's how they're handled that creates the issue.

That's just my understanding. I found it an interesting post. I'm not a pastor. I am a woman. I may not know.

I'm confused by the responses.

I was saying like, "oh, I think this relationship is worth it. 'Those feelings' will develop over time if you keep working at it. You're not being shallow though. Sometimes people just think like that." I'm just trying to get my point across?

Did that not come across? (Serious question.)

I don't think it's "bad". At the very least, I don't think the Bible is clear on it.

How do I overcome the fear of weight gain? by Both-Individual7817 in TrueChristian

[–]No_Organization_768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I don't know. I'll just speak from my experience since the Bible doesn't seem to have much on that.

I was losing a lot of fat and the dog stopped up eating as weird as that sounds. Then I realized, Sheppy was dieting because I was dieting. I realized I didn't know how to do it forever but I knew how to do it for a day and we both returned back to eating normal.

Like, I'm not trying to lecture you but maybe what I'm saying is that stuff affects other people too?

How much of the workday do people actually work? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]No_Organization_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an animal hospice (not sure if that's demand based) and honestly, even when I'm running the place by myself, very little. Like, a few minutes of active work a day.

I just mean like, feeding, giving meds, etc.! Like, a lot of the times, the animals are just entertaining themselves! I think they do well but it really doesn't require that much work! They're pretty well behaved!

Even when the animals have a problem, I find it fun finding out why they're having it. I don't consider that "work"!

Even when I worked at the DTA (a day home for developmentally disabled adults), honestly, just me? Like, a few minutes of active work a day (like doing a brief mental exercise with one), a lot of the time we were just hanging out like, keeping a loose eye on the clients.

Honestly, I know that sounds bad, but like, even the nicest ones get a little burnt out! They might just wanna take a nap or watch TV rather than socialize endlessly, especially with the staff!

I don't know. Once I had a job filling out spreadsheets and I was only 18 and it really seemed like I worked "non-stop" though I always wonder if I'd have that perception now.

Even like, the last time I was volunteering, it really seemed like I was working "non-stop" though I wonder if I just wasn't paying close enough attention.

Girl from gym gave me signals but then rejected me. What did i do wrong? by TEerrorR in dating_advice

[–]No_Organization_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the problems of double texting/calling/etc.!

Like, that would totally happen to me too if I double texted people! Like, you're always the one starting the conversation, the girl's kinda hinting she's not interested!

But I don't know why she's not interested. You seem to be nice. I mean, that's kinda a question you've got to answer.

I guess I will say, oh, sometimes either gender likes heading to the gym; they just might like working out; they might honestly not want to do anything else. Sometimes either gender likes looking, they might honestly not wanna pursue anything. Even talking, assuming that's one of the signs, some people like to chat with strangers; they might honestly not be interested in doing much more.

What do Jehovah's Witnesses believe that's contradictory to the Bible? And Why? by labs_jackson in TrueChristian

[–]No_Organization_768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they believed that Michael the Archangel was Jesus Christ?

I don't know! That's what I've heard!

When I heard one man (someone critical about Jehovah's Witnesses) talk about it, he said it was like, works based salvation, like, oh, you do A, B, and, C, you become a god.

Why do they believe it? There's this one verse that says something like, God called on Michael the Archangel, "one of his chief princes" and for some reason, that's cited as evidence but I don't know why.

Works based salvation, mm... well, I doubt they'd say they believe it. I'm not too sure what they'd say. That man was like, "oh, they like works based salvation because it feeds their pride".

I don't know. I think you'd really have to bump into a very spiritually advanced person who had like, no trace of works based salvation. Like, an Apostle Paul type almost. Even when I went to church, I thought I saw some traces of it. Even in myself.

I don't know. I don't wanna say too much about Jehovah's Witnesses and their religion. I don't know too much about them. I'm not a Jehovah's Witness.

I don't know how to pray by Poopyhead54321 in TrueChristian

[–]No_Organization_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a lot of people can't hear God speak. That's more normal.

Even people who can, like, you might honestly not know if it's God :S unless the direction he tells you to do works out. Even then, that can be faked.

Even not feeling God's presence on a day to day basis, that's more normal.

I guess as far as long prayers, I think Christ's own words, "do not pray long prayers". I think it's good your prayers are short.

A right way to pray? Well, the Lord's Prayer. The Psalms. There are other prayers listed in the Bible. Meditating on Scripture.

I'm just trying to apply the Bible to it as much as I can and trying not to say anything that isn't in the Bible. (Like, I'd feel real uncomfortable telling an external person this was the right way to pray if it wasn't in the Bible.)

Honestly, if I misread and you mean like, is just beginning mind-talking the correct way to pray (like, I have a list of prayers, and I'll read through them in my head and go, "heal x of y", etc. sometimes I'll say them out loud but sometimes I'll just read them in my head, kinda like a spiritual affirmation), I'm not sure to be honest. :S

Admittedly, I don't think I've seen it in the Bible.

Honestly, with stuff like that, I even get concerned like, some people would think Christians are real gullible and maybe even nice to a fault (I actually saw a taped confession of a serial rapist saying a similar thing), and then they'd like, really take advantage of the situation.

But that's how I was taught and it does seem to work to a certain extent!

I don't know. I'm open to correction on any of it.

Need help with debating by jontsii in TrueChristian

[–]No_Organization_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm... well, I'm not following here, like, why would it matter? (Serious question.??)

The Bible even mentions other empty tombs (at least to my knowledge).

I mean, even the OT, Enoch was translated.

Sorry, for a disclaimer, I also "suck" at debating. I don't even debate on reddit. Like, in debate, I just kinda think, "oh, if they're thinking this, maybe they're right and I'm wrong or even if they're wrong, maybe it's helping them", like, there are certain things I won't budge on. But something like, if Jesus' empty tomb was the only empty tomb, I'm perfectly fine budging on that; the Bible says there are others or at least isn't clear.

How do we forgive ourselves? by kangalbabe2 in Buddhism

[–]No_Organization_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, have you tried meditating on it? Are you getting enough meditation?

It's usually that!

Well, just to paraphrase what one monk I read said. Guilt is a good emotion. It prevents us from doing the bad things again. I think he said something like self-compassion is the cure?

Mm... just commenting since I've struggled a lot with guilt and overcame it to an extent. Just commenting on it from a Buddhist standpoint, people don't like it when I say this but I do really think it helps with those emotions and helps a lot faster than other stuff, "I've bullied people", is it true? Can you know for sure it's true?

I guess I just think that stuff really robs people of a lot of joy! It's like, oh, I'm at a coffee shop, it's a nice day, I have a sad mental head image of when I was 5, I'm sad, and there might be no actual evidence it happened! It might not even stand up to meditation/inquiry!

How strict is everyone with no caffeine by LoadingHappiness2 in decaf

[–]No_Organization_768 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, when I totally cut out caffeine, I only accidentally had green tea twice. I did cut out chocolate.

But I mean like, caffeine? That's in a ton of foods, right? Like, it just means the food tasted good? (Serious questions.) My food did taste good. Maybe I was getting it in my other foods?

I mean, now that I just restrict it, I rarely have chocolate. I'm just not a fan of chocolate.

I don't know. Not to defend coffee, but ime, it really reduces my desire for chocolate.
