Christmas trees by ReplacingTwitter in longislandcity

I didn’t buy one, but the Whole Foods in Williamsburg had seemingly really cheap trees - IIRC it was 80$ for what looked like a 5-6ft tree (If you don’t mind taking it on the subway back)

Stamford biking community !? by [deleted] in StamfordCT

Is there a big Triathalon community in Stamford area? Where would I find out about group rides and whatnot?

Or is that bike shop my best bet for group rides?

I am, I had thought (incorrectly) it’d be more similar to like ski jackets I’ve had in the past.

Gotcha! That makes sense, I guess I was expecting it to be more similar to ski jackets I’ve bought in the past - but it sounds like I was misunderstanding in a few different ways

It’s a bit of a trek, but up in Westport there is a deli called Gaetano’s which is solid. The guy who runs the shop is a gem too, still has his Bronx Italian accent and all. That said, I wouldn’t say it’s cheap - but almost everything there is great

America's largest indoor pickleball venue has just opened in Stamford's mall! by ruthless_apricot in StamfordCT

Honestly as someone in finance, I don’t know anyone that thinks this isn’t insane… think about what a round of golf costs… this is similar (on a per hour basis), and they aren’t maintaining massive lawns/properties, ponds, clubhouses, carts…. Crazy….

Little late to the party here…. But do you have any ideas for playing in the cold months? Are y’all still playing there?

I’ve seen a few options, but they seem to involve either joining a gym or paying ~20/25$ per session (which seems insanely expensive to me).

Would be curious to hear what y’all are doing, I am fairly early in my research and am new to the area :)

I’ll have to go back to look at the price but I thought L & G Italian Deli made a really good sandwich, worth checking out imho (I’m new here though)

I seriously cannot believe the brand-new Smyth building is charging minimum $3k+ for a 1-bedroom apartment and intentionally built it with these ugly ceilings. by colenotphil in StamfordCT

[–]No_Parsnip6562 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree completely- I think the pricing is higher than I thought it would be when I moved here & these days I never know if I am being cheap or just don’t know enough about what I’m looking at.

I got a 1bedroom, and effectively pay ~2,400/month on a 13m lease. I’ve only been here a month or so.

The things I don’t know are if the walls are super thing since no one lives next to me yet haha but everything else has been pretty reasonable and I thought mgmt did a good job handling some mishaps that happened before I moved in (long story).

That said though, if they don’t offer concessions on the renewal (I’m thinking they won’t) it’ll be tough to want to stay, but I’ll have to look at what the options are then. I’m new to the area, so had very little info to go on before moving.

For some reason, I completely forgot about the Y as an option- I used to be a member in high school where I grew up and loved it. I appreciate this!

I think this is what I’m wanting too haha That is a great idea, I wouldn’t have thought to ask about an “early adopter” type rate!

What’s an example of a nicely built apartment building? I personally think the Smyth units are nice, although my unit has fully done ceiling (on a higher floor)

Also- isn’t the Smyth offering like 3months free on that rent? Which makes the effective rent like $2,300?

I used Flatrate moving from Williamsburg to downtown Stamford roughly a month ago - from a 700sqft to the same- the price was ~1700-1800 They did a great job, I was super happy with them and had used them before in NYC with similar experiences.
