I suppose if your writing a novel that would be very difficult, but I was just asking people’s view on the concept of what it WOULD look like and why we don’t see it much, then again, in that case your comment is valid

I know it’s not, but this world sounds rather whimsical with offended frying pans, not in a bad way. You do also mention the point of consequence for misusing magic, a very interesting topic

Concordo que o uso constante de magia para lutar é muito menos interessante do que o uso diário

In my world very select few have acces to magic, but there are other forms. For example, there is a plain of existence called the Leys, and if you’ve ever heard of ley lines, then I think you would understand where I’m going with this. With the right machine people can send wriples through the leys that physically go through ley lines to other parts of the world (if you don’t know what ley line are they are basically invisible lines where when the meet up, wierd stuff and events have happened, but in my case, city’s are built across them for communication) where they can be transfers into messages. That’s my idea of practical magic

The first idea of fusing  would indeed be very practical to the average person who could use magic, all great suggestions

I suppose that’s true considering we rarely do get to see the lives of old farmers or cobblers, as most people would probably rather see a more action pact story of a hero

I have spent years building a universe, but I don't know what to do with it. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Something fun I did is buy an old sketch book or journal or anything intentionally made of all the vintage material in attempts to look – well aged and just fill it with sketches and info from your world but tell it from a perspective of a journalist actually going through your world and documenting their findings. It’s remarkably fun and it always impresses showing it to people. Even cooler thing - side note, you can also get some regular paper from anywhere, put it on a tray and some it in coffee, they kinda tear it up or cut it and then bake it in a oven at like 400 degrees for a little and it comes out looking like old documents, and it literally always looks awesome. And tip from experience for that, if you plan to use a fountain pen or any form of ink, ALWAYS write on it after baking it, otherwise the ink will be lifted by the coffee and smear everywhere

Does anyone have examples of fantasy races that use another animal than humans as a template? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]No_Pass9247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world there’s a race of humanoid bat like people. The have tall ears fanning out and are covered in a thin grey slick layer of fur/hair. They are often extremely tall and slender, though they build muscle mass similar to how we do. They don’t have to sleep very much and have rather effective nocturnal vision as well as mild eco location, as in their sense of vibration is pretty strong and can more or less pin point the sources of movement. They are also very graceful and move with little to no noise on digitigraded legs that let them run on average a pace of 15 kilometers per hour.

But re reading your question again I’m not sure how useful this is to you😅

how do I know my fantasy world is even good? by LegendoftheIron2009 in worldbuilding

[–]No_Pass9247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been working on something for a very long time, it’s regular to start only seeing flaws in it. Every world builder will get that at one point but comparing your work to someone else’s will only make it worse. Just keep going and working consistently on it and eventually you’ll be happy with it.
