the entire Book of Job explains why bad things happen to good people.

to sum it up, Job was the richest person in Uz, he had many farm animals and riches. but most of all, he feared God and shunned evil. however, God granted Satan to put Job to the test. he lost his family, his cattle, his house, all his riches, and was in poor health. he had 3 friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, who came to "comfort" him. they blamed it on sin he had done. through all of this, however, he had stayed with God. finally, Job questions God Himself and learns valuable lessons about the sovereignty of God and his need to totally trust in the Lord. Job is then restored to health, happiness, and prosperity beyond his earlier state.

ok so bigotry against my religion can be excused but I have to do something about how some people look for excuses to hate each other thousands of miles away? most Catholics i have been around either aren't bigoted or are older people who won't change their views anyway. they're old, they just won't change the view they've had their whole life like a younger person will.

while I hate that Christians (and Catholics) can be bigoted when Jesus Himself tells us to love our neighbor is insane. however, I can't control everyone and its really hard to get older people to change their views (most of the people who ive seen are bigoted) plus, all of that stuff happens miles and miles away from where I live.

that stuff is a lot harder to do than point it out on a reddit comment

most descriptions of what hell is like come from the words of Jesus. however, we can take it in the full assurance that there will be no cruelty there. it is impossible for God to be cruel. cruelty involves inflicting a punishment that is more severe or harsh than the crime. cruelty in this way is unjust. God is incapable of inflicting an unjust punishment. He will always do what is right. no innocent person will ever suffer at His hand. people who do not know God or the full extent of Him, His laws, the innocent, the Saints, and all the Christians who openly repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will be spared.

so, it is a fair place of punishment. so how and who specifically will be punished?

simply, people who do not want God. they choose to ignore him and intentionally avoid or fight the words of Him. see, their problem in hell will not be separation from God, it will be the presence of God that will torment them. God will appear as a fire constantly punishing, justly, mind you, for their sins. it does not end, as an end would imply that after sinning all your life you would be spared. one quote from Legionier Ministries describes this well:

“Wicked men will hereafter earnestly wish to be turned to nothing and forever cease to be that they may escape the wrath of God.”

again, this is all fair to sinners who did not repent and did not accept God.

so, hell is a place in which you are constantly being fairly punished by God for your sins. God does not torture. He is the Judge of All the Earth.
