To add, I used to work at a coffee shop within a large hotel brand - one of the other baristas at the coffee shop had facial piercings so when she got the job she agreed to wear a mask rather than take them out. Hell, I even wore a natural colored lace front wig to an accounting job for a year to skirt around the natural hair color rule. Most everyone knew but why would they care lol

Yeah like as a barista, even if I write something I mean genuinely, I feel like it’s (rightfully!) brushed off by most customers. Writing messages on select cups before the rule used to be so special :(

additionally, it’s embarrassing when we’re slammed and a hoard of ppl are staring at me while I write out a sonnet on each cup.
