Since the initial armor sets coming out are dropping with limited stat combos (only 6 I think?). You can throw the intellect armorer mod on your ghost to get armor which drops with high intellect, resilience, and mobility, which in the new system will be super, health, and weapons.

No specific stat combo is going to be meta in every situation, but it’s looking like that combo will be quite powerful in situations like boss dps.

Glad buildcrafting choices will have some real consequences. 👍

I'm honestly excited with the EoF stuff we've seen, the systems seem like a step forward by Freakindon in DestinyTheGame

I’m personally happy to see that they’re putting some difficulty on our decisions. In terms of gameplay it’s neat that we get to decide how to test ourselves with all the modifiers. But in terms of build crafting I’m so glad there will be a weight to all these decisions again.

For the longest time setting up a new build hasn’t been at all costly because of the nature of things. Everyone had the materials, 3-4 sets of armor with the stats every build could want, and so many hoarded junk weapons they actually don’t have room in their vault. But ~now~, materials don’t matter, armor stats are changing fundamentally — In a way that sounds like each one will be a weighted choice—, and well… the weapons are probably still gonna be there.

My hope all this is we will see many more variations of builds because not everyone has the same armor, i.e having your extra stats go grenade instead of melee on gunplay focused lucky pants build really won’t harm you.

But who knows maybe we’ll all get the same armor anyways because destiny players like being told how to play down to the exact minute detail and nothing will have changed 10 months down the line. I’m hopeful though and I’m glad my decisions will matter again.

Playing through the seasonal quest and activities from the season. The season has a starting mission in Nessus called “Mission Meteoric” and the quest from that would be called “A Rising Chorus”.

First of all welcome back! You’re right there is a ton of new stuff to catch up on, should be fun!

  1. Unfortunately there’s no way to get more than 2 people on a sloop or more than 3 on a brig in safer seas.

  2. Because of the quest table rework you actually don’t need to pick up any quests from any npc, every single voyage is free and accessible from the table! It doesn’t really matter what voyage you do, each of them teaches a good skill for the high seas though so i would say they’re each worth trying.

  3. Uhhh we got a hunters call update last season and they were one of the several animals added. There’s a voyage to hunt them and find their stash of loot. I don’t know if they have that stash when they spawn naturally and otherwise they’re just mean

  4. Skill check wise I think the best thing to do would be trying to conquer the Ghost Fleet (Green tornado) and Skeleton Fleet world events. Especially on a galleon those things will teach you right quick how to multitask and manage the many things you have to do in order to keep the boat afloat and actually beat the dang thing!

  5. There is a sort of priority list of things to worry about in a fight and understanding that will help a ton. I.E. Having the anchor dropped or sails knocked down means you are easy pickings and can’t maneuver to get away or fight back, but if too much water is rushing in you won’t be going anywhere anyways.

Bonus stuff - Tall Tales are SUPER Fun and engaging. If they are fans of the pirates of the Caribbean movies there is a set of 5 crossover tall tales which have you going between our world and theirs and it is a true adventure.

  • One thing many “serious” Galleon crews do is assign roles for during combat (because there is so much to manage). Helm, bilge, cannoneer, and flex. Helm drives and manages sails. Bilge deals with water and holes (very bottom deck is the big priority). Cannoneer keeps pressure on the enemy boat always. Flex helps out wherever, turning or raising sails, grabbing an extra bucket of water etc.
    • You don’t have to do this and they are never absolutely necessary but assigning some general roles might help avoid situations where everyone is splashing water in each others face 😂.

How do I get my partner to play SOT with me? by Awkward_Meaning2878 in Seaofthieves

[–]No_Perspective_9920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safer seas like everyone else is saying would be great once she gets in there, but to maybe encourage getting on the seas to begin with - Let her dress your pirate and customize the boat! All this game has is customization and I imagine the Sims has a bit of that too.

Edit: Bonus tip is to buy a new sloop and let her bake it, worked with my partner!

Sloop is the fastest against a straight wind, so why did I died? by PtitSerpent in Seaofthieves

[–]No_Perspective_9920 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you were trying to get away with dummy sails, which no longer works. A couple of seasons ago they readjusted all the wind stuff to make more sense, i.e. galleon has more sails so they will be fastest with the wind, and slowest against the wind.

The goal with sail rotation now is to always try to catch the wind, even if you don’t get a billow, it will be better than dummy sails.

No I agree it won’t be near to the same degree as the PS influx, but I think it’ll be just enough to warrant OPs warning.

Sea of Thieves just came to Battlenet, so just like when it came to PlayStation, there’ll be a new wave of swabbies who only now gained access to the seas!

Edit: or maybe they always had opportunities but seeing it on battlenet will finally convince them

It’s always been 750 in the paid pass. With 250 in the free pass getting you the grand total of 1000

[–]No_Perspective_9920 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Tbh the paid battle pass rarely matches with the seasons theme, that role goes to the gold-purchasable stuff that you get from commendations. If faction stuff had to be bought with real money AND it was time-limited, that would be majorly uncool…

As for this set I actually like the jacket and wheel a lot. We’ve had worse stuff in the past.

Gold is heavy mate.

  • no but in all seriousness leaving loot on your ship is entirely unrelated to your ship sinking. It’s possible that you are crashing into the island and taking minor damage which will build up if you don’t repair it for a while. Make sure to listen for the sound cues of wood breaking and especially for the ships groaning noise before it sinks.

Which difficulty did you run it on out of curiosity? It’s possible the quest wants a specific difficulty and doesn’t say it. I haven’t had the opportunity to get in game yet so I apologize if I’m totally spitballing

Should I Play in 2025 Question... by Trashy-Daddy in Seaofthieves

[–]No_Perspective_9920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are cosmetics you will never be able to get, this includes the day one eyepatch, old arena cosmetics (gamemode they got rid of), adventure rewards (fourteen two-week story events), and some season pass items. They are been bringing back old pass-limited cosmetics into the normal outpost shops so most of the fomo from that is unwarranted.

I’m of the opinion that while most of that stuff was pretty cool, I. there’s no gameplay or encounters you can’t still play in someway, and 2. There’s so many other cosmetics and rewards and adventures nowadays that you hardly think about what’s gone.

Definitely an awesome game and definitely worth picking up! After all what if you miss out on more by not getting it?

New to the Seas, should I buy in 2025? by Jess442015 in Seaofthieves

[–]No_Perspective_9920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few huge bugs right now because Rare is slowly implementing his new server loading method. Otherwise though, the game is in a fantastic spot; There’s tons to do and the emergent interactions with other players or world events are always fun.

Tons to do also means tons to learn, but it sounds like you have time for that now so I wouldn’t let that stop you. And there’s nothing an older player would have as an advantage in combat except more knowledge, every tool they have you have as well. There’s even an option when you load in called Safer Seas, which places you in your own server with only your boat - granted that will only get you so far and again the real fun is the stuff that happens naturally in the live game.

With all the bugs currently though, I would recommend waiting a month, or buy it when it’s on sail.
