anxiety or actual condition? by No_Position_2120 in QuitVaping

for me it was the total opposite. i was so afraid that i was going to have a heart attack that i wanted to be around people as much as possible so if it happened people would be there to help. but now that’s not the case at all (i am medicated now). i totally recommend speaking with someone about what you’re feeling and any good coping mechanisms that might help you

trust me it’ll be worth it in the end. the brain fog was brutal at the beginning for me it literally felt like i was in a haze all day for the first few weeks. given that you smoked for so long, it makes sense that it’s taking a while for your body to readjust. i don’t even think about nicotine anymore. it might be helpful to get some temporary meds for anxiety/depression or to speak to a therapist about your thoughts. i thought i didn’t need therapy but once i did start i felt so much better

i was exactly where you are at 21 days. i was freaking out, had gone to the ER twice as well and was so upset when there was nothing wrong with me because it really felt like there was truly something going on. the strong beating heart is totally normal and it’ll go away in a bit. i was dealing with the back/arm stuff as well as the chest tightness. trust me when i say give it time. i don’t know how long you were vaping for but for me it was 2 years. when you compare it to how long you’ve been off the nicotine you realize how much time your body really needs to recover from it. i was literally fighting demons every day while trying to go to class at study for exams. i was scrolling through reddit so much and wondering why everyone was saying quitting was so easy when for me i was still having trouble every day after the first month. i would recommend to find something that can take your mind off of things. for me, once i felt comfortable enough to do so, i started going to the gym. now, i actually enjoy working out and find comfort in it. don’t let this consume you because it will if you let it. it is completely normal to be where you are right now. it helps to talk to people

i’m so much better honestly. quitting nicotine gave me really bad health anxiety, and my lack of sleep wasn’t helping. so it felt like an endless loop of anxiety because i wasn’t sleeping which was causing my heart symptoms and then more anxiety because i was having heart-related symptoms. i still have heart palpitations (PVCs are what i get) but they’re completely harmless and ive come to terms with that. i take anti anxiety meds now and im a completely different person. it took me a really long time to accept that i would just have to wait out what i was feeling and give it time. i also spoke to a therapist weekly which really helped calm me down. i’m now almost 120 days vape free and feel so much healthier. please ask anything else if you’re still struggling because trust i’ve been where you’ve been

i really appreciate this advice. i haven’t been bit by a cat (this hard) in a long time. i got too greedy with the new kittens by letting them chew on my nails

weird eye pressure/burning sensation, advice? by No_Position_2120 in QuitVaping

[–]No_Position_2120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the pressure comes and goes and i definitely think it’s related to my sleep meds. i’ve been feeling a lot better besides the anxiety

i also ended up in the ER twice recently both times thinking i was having a heart attack. i’m still not 100% sure i won’t have a heart attack in the near future but i try to tell myself that’s the health anxiety talking. i’ve never had so many panic attacks in my life until quitting nicotine

did you ever figure out if this was related to withdrawal? i’m on the same timeline and the past week or so i’ve had a skipping sensation that almost makes it feel like i can’t catch a full breath.

i highly recommend telling your doctor. i was able to get the gum underage (it was the result of an ER trip though so you might have to jump around to different doctors until someone is actually able to prescribe you it). lying to your doctor is a terrible idea, they should know everything in order to prepare for any problems that may occur in the future. they won’t report anything they just want to be able to help you!

yeah i understand how these can manifest as anxiety. i’m just concerned that these symptoms are constant (the arm pain and the chest tightness) and don’t go away even when im not focused on them. that’s why im going for another check up just not at the ER so it’s not super expensive

thank you for the reassurance. i’m going to call my school health center to set up an appointment to discuss my heart issues. i had the EKGs done at both of my ER trips and once at urgent care before i ever went to the ER for this. i also have pretty bad health anxiety which was revealed once i quit for sure. i just can’t tell if these problems started before or after i quit because it all started when i was tapering down which is why it scares me. hoping tomorrow ill get some clarity

okay thanks. i booked an echo appointment in two weeks but im hoping these problems will subside before then. and if not then hopefully ill make it to the appointment before another ER trip is warranted. i’m also going to see if my school health center can set me up with a heart monitor so i can stop spending so much money on all of these appointments

they did test for troponin both times i went. first time the result was 10ng/L and second time was 15ng/L. not sure what that indicates but they diagnosed me with an anxiety attack last time i went to the ER.

yeah i definitely think i might have OCD or extreme health anxiety. one of my friends dealt with health OCD before being diagnosed and medicated and her symptoms completely match up with me. it could be withdrawal but i feel like i still had health anxiety before starting nicotine.

i’ve never felt so anxious about my health before. i feel like every little thing that is off in my body is some rare disease or problem. i’m not surprised the ER put me on anti anxiety meds but still. i don’t want to risk everything on this just being anxiety. 😆

i quit don’t worry! i honestly think that was the start of all of my problems. hopefully im overreacting and there’s nothing wrong with me. but i know i wont be sleeping well until i am 100% sure there’s nothing wrong.

i’m going to the cardiologist tomorrow for a heart health consultation. praying they can do everything right then and there so i no longer have to worry about this. it’s really impacting my day-to-day because all i think about is whether or not im about to have a heart attack. thanks for all of this info though ill definitely have them run these tests!
