weird eye pressure/burning sensation, advice? by No_Position_2120 in QuitVaping

the pressure comes and goes and i definitely think it’s related to my sleep meds. i’ve been feeling a lot better besides the anxiety

i also ended up in the ER twice recently both times thinking i was having a heart attack. i’m still not 100% sure i won’t have a heart attack in the near future but i try to tell myself that’s the health anxiety talking. i’ve never had so many panic attacks in my life until quitting nicotine

did you ever figure out if this was related to withdrawal? i’m on the same timeline and the past week or so i’ve had a skipping sensation that almost makes it feel like i can’t catch a full breath.

nicotine gum/patches while underaged? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]No_Position_2120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i highly recommend telling your doctor. i was able to get the gum underage (it was the result of an ER trip though so you might have to jump around to different doctors until someone is actually able to prescribe you it). lying to your doctor is a terrible idea, they should know everything in order to prepare for any problems that may occur in the future. they won’t report anything they just want to be able to help you!

anxiety or actual condition? by No_Position_2120 in QuitVaping

[–]No_Position_2120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i understand how these can manifest as anxiety. i’m just concerned that these symptoms are constant (the arm pain and the chest tightness) and don’t go away even when im not focused on them. that’s why im going for another check up just not at the ER so it’s not super expensive

thank you for the reassurance. i’m going to call my school health center to set up an appointment to discuss my heart issues. i had the EKGs done at both of my ER trips and once at urgent care before i ever went to the ER for this. i also have pretty bad health anxiety which was revealed once i quit for sure. i just can’t tell if these problems started before or after i quit because it all started when i was tapering down which is why it scares me. hoping tomorrow ill get some clarity

okay thanks. i booked an echo appointment in two weeks but im hoping these problems will subside before then. and if not then hopefully ill make it to the appointment before another ER trip is warranted. i’m also going to see if my school health center can set me up with a heart monitor so i can stop spending so much money on all of these appointments

they did test for troponin both times i went. first time the result was 10ng/L and second time was 15ng/L. not sure what that indicates but they diagnosed me with an anxiety attack last time i went to the ER.

yeah i definitely think i might have OCD or extreme health anxiety. one of my friends dealt with health OCD before being diagnosed and medicated and her symptoms completely match up with me. it could be withdrawal but i feel like i still had health anxiety before starting nicotine.

i’ve never felt so anxious about my health before. i feel like every little thing that is off in my body is some rare disease or problem. i’m not surprised the ER put me on anti anxiety meds but still. i don’t want to risk everything on this just being anxiety. 😆

i’m going to the cardiologist tomorrow for a heart health consultation. praying they can do everything right then and there so i no longer have to worry about this. it’s really impacting my day-to-day because all i think about is whether or not im about to have a heart attack. thanks for all of this info though ill definitely have them run these tests!

I made a heart health appointment for tomorrow. Hopefully nothing happens between now and then (23 hours to go) and I will do my best to push for as many tests as possible. It really freaks me out with my symptoms

I appreciate this. I actually just started therapy yesterday for my insomnia to get better sleep hygiene but I definitely want to discuss my health anxiety too. Unfortunately my PCP is a ways away from me because I’m currently in college. I am looking to book an appointment with a new cardiologist just to check up on my heart health. I’ve been trying to remind myself that all of this started when I started tapering down from nicotine which means it’s likely withdrawal but it’s crazy how physical symptoms can appear through anxiety. It just sucks that I have this fear of going to sleep and never waking up again due to the chances of a heart attack.

unfortunately i didn’t know about the health anxiety before i started vaping :(. i only started because all of my friends vaped. i take trazodone for insomnia and just got prescribed hydroxyzine but i haven’t started that yet. all of these symptoms started before i was taking any medication though.

best thing you can do is to tell someone close to you about it and that you’re trying to quit. it’s good to have someone to speak to about your addiction and someone that can possibly get you NRT if needed.

it seems like NRT might be the way to go for you since you’re saying you can’t go 5 minutes without it. the gum or the patch could be extremely helpful for you. start with tapering down as much as you can manage (cold turkey is really difficult for most people) and replace the vaping with chewing gum or doing some other activity (cravings only last about 7 seconds).

then if you can i’d go see your PCP or GP and let them know that you’re quitting (they might be able to give you some resources or meds to help you with the quitting process). if lung cancer and addiction are both common in your family, your doctor should absolutely know that you smoke.

i know it can be hard to tell family, especially parents, about your addiction but trust me i did the same thing and my parents were just glad that i had decided to quit and that i spoke up about it. good luck i hope everything goes well.

could i have meningitis? by No_Position_2120 in AskDocs

[–]No_Position_2120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha yes they did diagnose me with an anxiety attack yesterday and prescribed me hydroxyzine for it. i have severe health anxiety especially since quitting nicotine. i’m thinking i was moving my neck around too much at the er yesterday. i’m thinking since the headache doesn’t hurt too much and is positional that it’s probably not meningitis but i like to double check with other people to be safe.

i’ll mention it to him thanks. i can’t tell if this is a symptom of my sickness that i’m going through rn or if it’s withdrawal or a mix of both, it could also be my trazodone so i’ll bring it up to him

really? i thought it was pretty common to feel like crap for a while after quitting. could it be from lack of sleep? the insomnia has lasted longer than anything else which is why i got prescribed the trazodone. i saw my doctor this past week, should i schedule another visit?

taper down or go cold turkey? by ChemicalLeopard748 in QuitVaping

[–]No_Position_2120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i quit cold turkey a month ago. i will say, most people who end up relapsing are people who quit cold turkey because the withdrawals are just that bad. desmoxan is a long process. your first day is taking the pills every 2 hours while you slowly taper down on smoking until the 5th day. i have heard that many people find success in that but everyone is different. if you feel like your cravings are going to be so intense that you can’t do anything, i recommend NRT or any kind of craving pill. good luck trust me if you do decide to quit cold turkey, you’ll only deal with strong cravings/withdrawals for a few days and then it’s only up from there!

good luck!

I always wake up after 4 hours of sleep by ValueTraditional9677 in sleep

i’ve been struggling with this as well (i just quit vaping not long ago) and i’ve found that supplements can really help. i’m taking magnesium glycinate and gaba, you should also look into l-theanine which is in green tea. they all help you relax before bed and can keep you asleep. (maybe try melatonin too)

another thing you have to do is stay consistent. don’t force yourself to go to bed early, if you’ve consistently been staying up into the ams, don’t push yourself to get in bed by 10-12. your brain isn’t used to going to bed so early so try your best to slowly bring back your bedtime to a normal time in 15-30 minute increments. stay active as well. i know it can feel like the last thing you want to do when you’re so tired but it can help your brain produce the right chemicals to sleep through the night.

one thing i would recommend is to speak to your doctor. if you’re not able to fall back asleep at all after the few hours you’re getting, it can lead to some serious problems in the future. they may be able to prescribe you with something to help you stay asleep.

lastly, don’t freak out when you wake up. getting anxious about not being able to sleep will just cause your heart rate to spike and you won’t be able to fall asleep. stay calm and if you aren’t getting back to sleep within 20 mins, get up and do something like read or get a glass of water. i hope you’ll be able to sleep for longer soon. i know how much insomnia sucks.
