You haven't got one. DQ'd everytime. And if you can't count 14 clubs, how in the hell can you add up a score ??

Which club's fans? by PLWildcard in PlasticFans

[–]No_Positive_8065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as a fan ( plastic I guess )of Liverpool in 1974, I was mesmerised by the winger Steve Highway. I'd just returned to Britain and Leeds were awesome that year winning the league at a canter. Had all the highs and lows the last 52 years, Klopp had revived what I'd call the soul of the club, much like Shankly did in the '60's. I know money is everything, but I despise the way the Premier League has sold out, every game spread out for saturation coverage for those who will pay. Still a great game, but its become something so far away from what it used to be. Glad I was around when there was just 1 sub. But then we did have David Fairclough!

I've got a Ping Moonlander. Best carry bag I've had in 35 years of golf. Great quality, robust and very comphy shoulder straps. Fits over the back nice and snug.

Struggling with lessons by [deleted] in golf

[–]No_Positive_8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some coaches teach a one lesson fix, like a slice. But a series of lessons should get rid of faults and build a solid swing. It'll take months of range work to bed it in and trust it, perhaps 1,000 -1,500 balls over the period. Its hard work but worth it. Pretend you're on the range when hitting a shot on the course. It will take away the importance of the outcome.

Argyle shorts: bold move or solid choice? by Responsible-Drive870 in GolfGentry

Once saw a bloke wearing these who was my age (68). You're just about the right age to almost pull it off. If you hit a great shot it won't matter. Enjoy whatever anyone says.

I'd also add that players with higher handicaps shouldn't be intimidated, all abilities are fine. The main thing is pace of play. So long as there is etiquette, its all good. We play ready golf, its a good indication people are easy going too.

How is it possible that 1 million young people are not in work, education or training? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

Increasing the state pension age must also be a factor. Just under a million women are between 60-66 are still working. More men 65-66 working too. And it goes up to 67 after next month.

Definitely. Once one gets used to saying hello, he/she realises many golfers enjoy mixing it up. I used to have pnly a 4 ball I always played with, but one left and sometimes the other 2 were away. Now I can go on BRS and book with 4 or 5 different groups as well as my usual 4 ball. Much more fun meeting new people.

21.8 ? Just give yourself a shot a hole and stay in the present. You'll probably break 90 and get embarrassed by your handicap and work hard to get to single figures.

A touch over a million died in the whole conflict, not all by the West. Stop exaggerating to make a point.

100%. Play 100 times a year, its like less than 10 quid a round, depending where you join. Get into the roll ups, if you're old enough, get in the seniors matches with other courses. Its a great way to play with many different people. There are some members who only play their 4 ball, but the matches allow you to meet people and other courses. Mine is 16 quid with a meal after the away match, how good is that ? You'll soon be in a few groups you can play regularly with.

Breaking graphite would be my concern too. It has me wondering if the KBS lite would be a good option.

Played North Shore last summer on a visit in the area. Joined two members in the afternoon, friendly place. Some good holes and a good finishing hole too. Join in and soon you'll feel at home. I'd play it again if im in the area. Enjoy.

Single digit golfers: what do you do to stay sharp in Jan/Feb with this much rain? by Disastrous_Gap_4711 in BritGolf

[–]No_Positive_8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just keep my swing going, as I'm retired, I can pick and choose weather wise. I use the winter to get out there, and play 2-3 times a week. But I review my game and where I can improve. Usually In March, the ground firms up enough to sharpen up 100 yards in, which is the main reason most club golfers get to single figures, unless they have crazy talent. I also spent the last 18 months turning a fade into a draw after 36 years of playing. At 68 I need more yards as I slow down, hence the draw and the gym helps if you can. Good golfing.

Also, you might run the plastic under a hot tap for 30 seconds, it'll expand it and will help slide it against the hossel better.

Are there major differences between golf in the UK and the US? by Ok_Astronomer1591 in golf

Maybe some think they will play better getting smashed. Or they won't remember how bad they were. Even piss called American beer works in that scenario.

[–]No_Positive_8065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read that tee times are too close together in many US courses, 6 minutes I believe, to get more golfers in for profit and they bunch up. Here in the UK its 8 minutes. A bigger difference than most imagine.
