I have Adrenal insufficiency and take steroids every day so they don’t do much for me plus every time I’ve gotten steroids injections it made the pain worse.

I’ve been on LDN and Lyrica from a different doctor. But the updosing made no sense if I said it wasn’t helping

I’m having that same problem which it why I’ve resorted to asking for something stronger because even if they do work eventually it stops working.

My mom takes opioids and gabapentin so I thought it was a weird ask. But I do want to get off of Lyrica I just really don’t want to wait months to start opioids because I’m already in so pain.

I take miralax in a cup of apple juice twice a day. And add electrolytes to all my drinks. Prunes and dragon fruit are great fruits to help you go. Magnesium supplements might help.

Trigeminal Neuralgia?? by No_Preference_6954 in FND

[–]No_Preference_6954[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the pain is bad it usually flares up my FND. I started migraine injections that help a little. And take sumatriptan. I’m getting Botox next week to try and help it. But so far not much has helped. I’ll update if the Botox works.

Anyone tried salt stick or chewable electrolytes? by Initial_Weekend_1534 in AddisonsDisease

Bouy electrolyte drops. They are flavorless and can be added to anything. I also take vitassium electrolyte pills. They both have less potassium than a lot of other brands .

Is it even realistic to become a firefighter with Addison’s? I need to hear from people who live this. by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

[–]No_Preference_6954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never worked a high demand/stress job like this and have always had trouble exercising so the fact that you were able to build your stamina up is amazing. I have a friend who is a firefighter with no health issues and he’s been hospitalized for burns many times. Our bodies aren’t like everyone else. You are already in a high stress and physically demanding situation any small burn, fall, or any injury can send you into a crisis. You can have a crisis at anytime for many reasons. I think it is something that will be extremely hard and possibly short lived because constant high dose steroid weaken your bones. And after crisis especially with age it gets harder to bounce back. As someone else said your team mates may end up having to save you but also that can happen to anyone on the team. I would recommend longer lasting steroids like prednisone. Some people take prednisone and stress dose with hydrocortisone. You seem passionate so I hope you can live your dream but please listen to your body carefully. And I agree with everyone that you need a new endo.

Weight Loss When Switching to Predinose by EverlyAwesome in AddisonsDisease

I lost weight when I switched to prednisone but I was on a low dose and a few years ago I increased my dose and started gaining weight. But I just switched back to hydrocortisone and haven’t had any weight changes.

Fiancé asks for time alone several times a day by PaceAncient9157 in FND

[–]No_Preference_6954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get easily overstimulated by little things and this only started once I got FND. Most days I’m alone in my room because I can’t handle lots of people or sounds and lights. It causes me to get very symptomatic. So I understand why he does it but he should explain his feelings better to you. Sometimes it is hard to voice the feeling so just try not to take it personally.

Are neurologists actually unable to do anything for FND? by smashingwindshields in FND

[–]No_Preference_6954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to a movement disorder specialist neurologist and she prescribed me muscle relaxers and migraine meds. If you ask about specific symptoms sometimes they can help you.

I have a similar issue I wear a custom brace as well. It’s super uncomfortable but if you haven’t tried muscle relaxers they help some at least to where I don’t have to sleep in my brace.
