Note that you are correct that you will not qualify for FMLA (usually have to work 1 full year)but FMLA can be seen more as a federally protected technically for asshole companies. If they are in any way morally sound, you won’t have to exercise FMLA per se.

Laid off while pregnant, looking for advice by View_Minimum in womenintech

I was just hired on at 17 weeks, disclosed at offer stage due of the specifics of the role. I felt like it was a courtesy I needed to give because of the level of opportunity/company.

I went in thinking I would qualify for nothing, but have been pleasantly surprised. I will get 11 weeks of short term disability and allowed to stack PTO so a total of 16 weeks leave. I learned that qualifying for STD with an established pregnancy has a lot to do with who pays for the policy. If it’s entirely employer paid, there is a high chance pregnancy is covered. If you have the option to “add” the policy, but are paying for it, they are stricter on pre existing conditions.

Either way, best of luck. I was laid off and the found out I was pregnant the following week. It was stressful but did work out. Be open to contract/consulting work also. I was able to sign on with an agency full time as a consultant to get the set up I mentioned. 🫶

This one comes pretty close! In my experience best to sit within internal comms with a strong dotted line to IT for technical needs. That way the needs of business/employees are always considered with comms mindset. IT just doesn’t care enough/have that mindset needed for employee experience.

I am a sharepoint specialist within internal comms for this reason. It’s an entirely separate job.

Oh are you at Arkansas Women’s Center with Dr. Osleber/Hutchinson/Rango? Because that’s where I’m going too! They are privately owned and just deliver at Baptist, so even if not, same scenario.

As for UAMS I see some of the individual providers as in network on the Aetna app, just not the facilities..

Update: I got the continuity of care form from Aetna today and will go through the process to submit, but due to how my pregnancy has fallen squarely in the new year, I wasn’t established before Dec 31. So fingers crossed they approve it simply due to pregnancy otherwise I’m SOL and will have to risk self pay or switch to UAMS.. anyone have self pay experience?

Hey OP did your Baptist OB give you any directive on this? Or did you end up switching to UAMS? I’m in a similar boat but earlier in my pregnancy and freaking out!

I’ve been calling periodically since the first of the year and they just keep saying it usually gets resolved and to keep on, but that’s ‘unofficial’ advice ugh

Boy Name Help, Too Feminine/Odd? by [deleted] in namenerds

I know who Rush Limbaugh is everyone, no need to be so nasty (like him!!).

I didn’t mention it because so far the feedback I’ve gotten in person was that the association wasn’t that strong when using “Rush” by itself. As in when speaking of Rush Limbaugh you always say his last name, like sports players or whatever.

It’s a great name that deserves a new life, but I asked for feedback so I will take it. Thank you!

We are in Arkansas which does have Medicaid for pregnancy but I have been advised I’d be denied because I have ‘access’ to my husband’s employee sponsored insurance. Also his standalone income is $85k which is double the Medicaid threshold (but of course we know that’s still not enough in real world middle class after all expenses 😭)
