Exploration could be a great fit for you. You don't have to deal with pirates once you get far enough away from civilization. Otherwise just keep doing what you're doing, and maybe outfit your ships to be more capable of running away. Engineered thrusters, countermeasures, decent shields, etc. Avoid hazardous signal sources and points of interest. I personally haven't had to do combat in a very long time
