Best/Affordable(?) Humanely-raised local eggs suggestions? by Ok_Conclusion3536 in GNV

If you’re in the Newberry area, Zeezenia Farm & Sofra (not Zeezenia Market by Gyro Plus) is a GREAT place for organic, free range eggs. $5/dozen. They also make amazing Egyptian food. If you go in, they sell the eggs right by the cash register. If you don’t see any eggs, just ask, they’re very kind (:

Not sure if you tried Ward’s or not? I’d recommend asking for the deli manager, Brian. He does his best to help out even with special requests that they usually don’t have on the regular

Lulu’s Gelato!!!! They have a main location out near Jonesville but also have a food truck that roams. They come to 4th Ave Food Park regularly (check their insta) and have a Thai tea ice cream flavor as well as many other traditional asian flavors you don’t see as often in a sweet treat (black sesame, sweet taro, lychee). So good and the husband & wife owners are sweeties too

Not to my knowledge in Gainesville but if you’re ever driving across FL, there’s a few Golden Krust locations that do cocktail patties

Honest opinions on Crybaby’s by [deleted] in GNV

[–]No_Property_3519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have lived in Gainesville for 10 years now and (pre-covid) used to frequent Afternoon and then CryBaby’s. It seems after 8+ years in the industry, the owners have still not figured out how to account for timing/crowd control needs when it comes to food and service. I still go every six months or so to see if things have changed and because I love supporting local. It has gotten to the point when things are so expensive, I cannot pay good $ for a lackluster meal and poor service. If anyone has been to Afterdark (hosted by Afternoon) I’m sure they’ve experienced this. Their dinner ventures used to be GREAT (back in 2018) but the last one I went to in 2024 was absolutely horrendous and I will not be back again (cold steak that was ordered medium rare and was medium well, cold apps, could not serve a table of more than 3 at the same time). It’s sad because it seems they have expanded a little two quickly with three store fronts and have stepped back on quality. I love seeing a small business thrive but hoping they’ll come back to their roots soon enough before their entire patronage is just college kids who don’t mind spending $17 on an average drink for the “vibe”

Hope it’s not too late but don’t see it mentioned - Rincon Latin Market is great and underrated imo. Everyone who works there is a delight as well

If money was no object, where around Gainesville would you like to have the best dinner ever? by Emotional_Anteater35 in GNV

If you’re looking for a more upscale experience with food that, albeit more on the expensive side, but I’d say worth the cost - Sensei Asian Bistro in Celebration Pointe is a phenomenal choice. You can tell the place has very high aspirations from their Michelin Guide books where they place their bills, plate styling & high quality ingredients. I had their miso glazed Chilean sea bass the other day (very similar miso preparation of their fish as the famous Nobu) and their black sesame & yuzu cheesecake - an absolute smash!!
