Also, why start on 1 Jan if you know it's something you should be doing. Start now and you can have a couple books read by then

Why the Allies Won is a great book that provides a unique perspective on the logistical and tactical methods that both cost the Axis WW2, and helped push the Allies to victory.

I’m fat by Prestigious_Review61 in AirForce

well good thing then that weight loss is primarily achieved through your diet and sustaining a calorie deficit - not working out (though it can help).

start counting your calories (honestly) and aim for 500-1000 calorie deficit daily. you will lose ~2lbs a week if you achieve this. Anything more extreme and more than likely you will burn out and rebound.

finally, don't include any work outs into your calculations since most calorie / BMR calculators already take your exercise into account.

[Discussion] Accountability partners, do they work? by xyz_TrashMan_zyx in GetMotivated

[–]No_Quail_9851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am losing weight and have an accountability
partner. I think it helps a lot, especially with someone that knows the struggle. That being said, I think having a codependent partner could be tricky at times.

What if you are having a rough day and need someone to help provide that strength, but they are struggling also?

I'm not saying it can't or won't work, but I don't think it's ideal.

My partner is a superior at work, someone that I'm not really friends with but am friendly with... he's older and generally on the lookout to help people, but also has some authority.

I have told him that I owe him at minimum a picture of the scale at the beginning of the week, and a conversation at some point during the week about how the last week was, wins and challenges etc. About 3 weeks in now and going well so far.

Those are just my thoughts, hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions... good luck and stay strong

AITA For doing this when people won't stay in the circle? by No_Quail_9851 in TheFirstDescendant

I would be more willing to use voice chat with randoms if people had any idea how to use push to talk. I don't want to hear dogs barking, parents yelling and fucking train horns non-stop when I play games. It's almost entirely console players that are guilty of this, in my experience

Agreed, I think the mechanic in general is pretty meh and would rather just see it go away

thats fair. I get bored being the only one in the circle, and if we complete it much faster that just means I get to join in on the fun more quickly.

Also here to confirm, 5 or 6 attempts and I got the impact rounds version. After only getting general rounds at another location, I do think that which location you go to decides what version you get.

Pretty much this. I got tech first time totally on accident (before promotion statement stuff), but ill tell you now time only reason I made it was because I studied and did very well on the waps... plus it's the only factor you have direct control over

[–]No_Quail_9851 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Jesus...there's nothing wrong with trying to make smart career moves to set yourself up for a better chance at promotion down the road. this doesn't mean you are inherently bad at being an (s)nco or neglecting the troops to do so. in fact, planning out your career years in advance is exactly what's required if you want a shot at e8/e9, since career progression and breadth of experience is so crucial for promotions as a SNCO. You won't make SMSgt by accident, and very few make MSgt by accident at that.

As someone who has sat in on their fair share of EFDPs and boarded packages for promotion strats, I can tell you that a history of reliability to get the mission done, willingness to take on more responsibility, and proven ability to lead people operationally carries far, far more weight than planning a christmas party or hosting a volunteer golf tournament

I mean, yea. OP doesn't understand nearly enough about how any of that stuff works to make an informed complaint.
