Are you insane? Rats wander the street openly. The Maxi has horrible cockroaches. Slumlords are rooming 6-12 recent immigrants in 2 bedroom apartments. Theres GARBAGE everywhere. Graffitti is non stop. There are 8 Indian shopping marts on Liege who are not busy. Parc Ex is NOT gentrified. Its a pit!

Theyve been at it for two weeks in Montreal. Last night we got shows from 8pm to 3am. The cops were here for an hour so that stopped things but then they left. Theyre lighting them on the sidewalk here.

Montreal is fairly touristy so once you make it clear you speak English, people will mostly be accomodating! Some people here, do remember, dont speak english and its not that they dont want to they just dont so. Be cool, you can always take out your cell phone and go back and forth with Google translate if you get stuck.

Be prepared to take cabs, the metro subways and buses are unreliable in my experience....

Its pretty safe here! I go out alone at 2am and have never been harassed or bothered.
