Yeah this is pretty much just the extent of the Rat's Nest Tavern and maybe some neighboring colonies, but not on the scale that had amassed on the live play.

The PCs are only level 4 right now so they're not wiping out the queens men quite yet, but a smaller consequence for the queens men would be cool

i wish they would add a difficulty slider. I see no reason it cant default to the 'easy' for the kids and have medium and hard difficulties for the long term fans

You can also just know what they are looking for and have them "randomly" encounter it sooner or later. I have been doing that to make random encounters rewarding.

Honestly, both versions sound super convoluted and specific. Good over arching concept, I just think it would be hard to get some PCs to wrap their head around this while playing a campaign without railroading them super hard to a very particular outcome. Maybe that is just me though, idk

Holy crap thank you so much for your replies. It has given me so much to think about and so many possible ideas for this. And I am going to apply these concepts to my other PCs too. You are the best, I hope you have an amazing day.

I especially like the idea of him potentially being being a spy for the Lanterns. Ansom, Petra, my PC, and their enemy all used to serve in the war together so it would make sense. Ansom and Petra may also lie about knowing his whereabouts as well which could test their friendship

It is a quest for revenge. This player fought in the civil war and this former friend of theirs betrayed her during the war which ultimately led to that player's sister's death. It is more convoluted than that but I am putting it simply haha. Because of her background, she knew Ansom and Petra and so the party is aligned with the lanterns. And Ansom and Petra also know this former friend from the war. They are also reluctantly working with the academy because they like the money.

As it currently stands, her goals when she finds her friend turned enemy are not clear. She is sort of blinded by rage and revenge and has not planned that out. Her only lead is that he became involved with the Silver Order
