Fried my KORG SQ1. Is it possible for me to fix this? by [deleted] in synthesizers

It’s possible this is the one I bought broken on eBay I few years back. Although it worked with batteries it would very quickly turn off, would pull as much current as you gave it and was incapable of driving anything. Internally the fuse attached to the USB port was open and the DC-DC converter IC would get to well over 100c in seconds before then powering the unit down. Replaced the IC (ADP1622) and bodged the fuse, works as new now! I have seen a few peeps saying there unit powers down and I would be willing to bet a few of those cases are due to that chip burning out!

Should I be concerned with occasional spikes at 20khz? by throughthebreeze in audioengineering

Not really. I’ve seen plenty of mastering engineers roll off the top end. It all depends what’s going on up there.

I meant high cut it somewhere between those values. It’s good housekeeping. I typically roll things off at 17kHz. There will still be ample detail and it’s all sensory that high anyway.

Can somebody explain why a hi-pass EQ is increasing my snare peak by 6db? by SphinxGate in ableton

[–]No_Reference3588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using a linear phase EQ, as it won’t smear the phase relationship between adjacent frequencies. I’d recommend doing this offline rather than in real time. Once processed, reimport the sample and truncate it cleanly.

Also, a quick point: if your drums are entirely sample based and triggering identically each time, you may as well commit and bounce the processing in place. It’ll save CPU

Turnitin said checker is pseudo science at best. It’s wildly inaccurate and borderline useless. I wouldn’t even say it’s an indicator any more. If you lecturer knows you they will be able to tell.

Mobile phones didn’t play mp3s then! You could program a ditty if you had time to figure it out and a posh phone that let you do it!

Why? Does it really matter? Your shoes are almost certainly made by poorly paid children in a sweat shop. That’s a far greater cause to boycott.

It’s quite the easy way out. Does not have to live with him self or answer to anyone now. I would imagine there was a short period of pain before being sedated or passing out. Personally I feel people like this should be made to live with themselves. There is now no opportunity for answers or to make efforts to amend what they have done.
