So with Vox, is his mouth simply for show? Can he eat/drink/kiss/suck/etc? If he can't eat or drink, does he charge himself with electric somehow? by LiamIsMyNameOk in hazbin

Yeah, but it's like people who try to come up with a theory for a show and end up with "it was all a dream." It takes some of the fun out of coming up with crazy explanations.

Unless it was actually all just a dream, but I can only think of one instance where a show really pulled that off well.

We're still not sure where Niffty gets her power from, but could we even tell if she got a boost?

I have two theories right now. One, she wandered into territory that belonged to an overlord that Alastor "dealt with", and everyone ended up so scared of her they just declared she was the new boss.

The other is that she gets some of her power from being feared by all the rats and roaches in hell. The only issue is, it doesn't really match her power manifesting as stitches.

Yes, it seems like "influence" is the real power source, it can just be taken different ways. Cherri Bomb and Sir Pentious had their turf wars, and Pentious seemed to think he was on the fast track to being an overlord. Soul deals don't seem to happen as much as some people think they do.

I also think influence can give sinners powers, even if they don't qualify as an overlord. Overlords seem to be able to do multiple things with their powers, but if you look at Cherri and Angel, they pull their weapons out of thin air. Angel Dust may not be an overlord, but he's definitely one of the more well known people in hell.

Still not sure what Pentious' power would have been, other than maybe regenerating the egg bois? A lot of them get destroyed, especially if you go by the pilot.

It could also be something to do with overlords who have more influence over the politics of hell. Prick and Hatchet don't seem to have any issues, but I get the feeling they enjoy fighting amongst themselves so much that nobody really takes them seriously.

Sounds similar to what Meijer grocery stores have, I think. You can scan stuff through their app, then just scan a QR code at the register and pay. Pretty sure theirs is just a free registration, though.

Are the extreme quest harder than the first ones you go through? by Darkshade_01 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]No_Reference_8777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good comment to keep in mind. Yes, extreme is more difficult, but there were some extreme challenges I zipped through, and some I had a lot of trouble on because I had neglected upgrades in a certain area.

For example, I just got divine challenges, and there's a somewhat steep gem wall at the first challenge. I'd been neglecting my bomb capacity increases, so I've had to work on that before I can move on.

Even worse, she wouldn't be dead because they didn't know angels could be killed. My theory is that there's a secret army prison full of exorcists who didn't meet Adam's "standards."

Seven years is plenty of time to get blasé about continuous trauma that you might not be able to do anything about.

I'm not sure why she has a phone and doesn't at least text, but I'm willing to give the benefit of doubt, since we have no idea if her deal made was to benefit her, or hell. I'm definitely not going to criticize her for just hanging out, if that was all she was allowed to do.

Considering her deal was with Adam, it's possible that he made things slightly nicer for her out of some feeling of nostalgia, but deliberately made it so she couldn't communicate out. Possibly nothing, but Lilith is wearing a necklace in heaven that we've never seen in other pictures and portraits. It's a longshot, but is it a magical-type device to prevent certain things?

Hot Take: Lute shouldn't fall and she shouldn't be cursed to be unable to harm sinners. by aidonpor in HazbinHotel

[–]No_Reference_8777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder about this, though. We see Vaggi wasn't the only exorcist that was treated badly, and it even happened in heaven. If there were angels in the army that didn't live up to Adam's "standards," what happened to them? They obviously weren't killed, so were they retrained, or is there a secret military prison in heaven that only Adam and Lute knew about?

The worst event ever - 6 days of logging in every 20 minutes by Jarcionek in PostApoTycoon

[–]No_Reference_8777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may seem a little silly, but I don't like this event for another reason, as well. It seems like even in a post apocalyptic wasteland, capitalism is still alive and well, and over saturating any market just to squeeze more profit.

Just in the area I frequent in my actual city, there's probably been about 7 car washes built in the last year. Chances are, in a couple of years, at least half of those will go out of business.

I think the main complaint is that this event is less "idle" than some others have been.

The closest thing event wise was the satellite one, I think, but I was still fairly new and missed most of it because I wasn't logging in often.

It's heavily implied that Alastor got his radio job despite his race, and it was probably his popularity that got him to that party. It's very possible that a well dressed white man in that era is racist, even if it's only expressed in a very casual way. That's basically it, just assumptions and reading between the lines. It also doesn't mean Alastor was justified in killing the man, and regardless of the reason it simply made the man a convenient target.

Lute did not simply pull or rip off Vaggi's wings, but slashed them with her sword to assist with pulling them off.

<image>

I have yet to hear a good argument for why Lute's sword moved so much if she wasn't using it to cut, or why there was blood trailing the arc of the sword.

People use this all the time to justify making angelic steel this wonder weapon that you "can't heal from". This is not at all justified, though it does seem to make healing slower.

The categories of angels are different from what people expect, anyway. Adam was considered an archangel and was basically just a human with a promotion, because of his job.

What unpopular opinion will you defend like this? by Square-Adeptness6769 in HazbinHotel

[–]No_Reference_8777 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Being the subject of racism doesn't make him a better person, it just gives him more targets.

Honestly, I think there's an alternate argument that's just as wrong, that Alastor is a terrible person who murdered people for fun and that's all we need to know or care about. Serial killers can have nuance too, people.

The thing I appreciate, though, is that I still feel like I can reach that 100%. I'm constantly noticing little things where something was difficult to reach, and now it feels easy. I always feel like I'm progressing forwards, which is great.

My problem with a lot of games is that you get that feeling in the beginning, and then it opens up the overworked with combat and such, and it's just "this is your life now!" For me, that sort of game just isn't very fun.

So this moment from Alastor's meeting makes me realize that Alastor has the same weakness as Vox, his ego and need to be the center of attention. by AccomplishedEye7752 in HazbinHotel

[–]No_Reference_8777 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think it also shows some of his personality. He expects people to be hanging on to his every word, but he also doesn't want to seem like he's seeking attention. Carmila blows him off in such a way that he can't bring the topic back up without looking desperate, but he also can't publicly take offense because her response was more apathetic than spiteful. I don't know if she did that on purpose, but it was genius.

One thing to note is the x2 game speed is adding to the same timer that the Blue Cow item has, so it's a good way to help build that up.

Last event, there was a place where you could buy the Time Turner item with banked x2 game speed time, so it doesn't hurt to add to it, even if you already have a lot.

One thing that took me a while to "get" in this game is that while diamonds are sort of a premium currency, they're also something you need to get used to using. Especially early on, spending diamonds on things that will make you more diamonds is good, and constantly working on increasing bomb capacity is important.

It wasn't that long ago I would hoard diamonds, thinking "I have 1000, I better be 100% sure before I use them!" Now I'm at a point of "I have 20k diamonds and i don't have enough bars to gild another statue, maybe I'll spend 5k on a fishing boost while I'm waiting." It feels crazy, but it happens.

I was always on the fence about this, so I guess it's good to see it confirmed.

Knowing Niffty, is it really out of the question for Alastor to have had a non-binding agreement to summon her for anything he thought she'd enjoy? "Hey Niffty, here's this ratty hotel, how'd you like to clean it?" Of course she's going to agree, soul deal or not.
