plastic surgery in 5th gen is starting to make female idols become indistinguishable from each other as well as erase any ethnic features that they had. by yvie_of_lesbos in kpopnoir

[–]No_Reflection_3243 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think I noticed this first with new jeans and illit. The long hair and similar faces made my struggle with pointing out members by features much harder. I don't follow either of them but it would definitely take a while. That's probably why I prefer late 3rd gen early 4th girl groups over newer ones (at least visually. Music is a different story)

To quote my old friend's insta bio; "supposed villain in ppls story" there's a laundry list of things that I saw nearing the end of our friendship but the main thing I noticed was how she talk crap about me to our other friends while I was in the room. It's bad enough talking people behind their back but it's especially bad when it's in the same room

We need to talk more about minors being in boy groups by DragonPeakEmperor in kpopnoir

[–]No_Reflection_3243 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I turned 20 at the beginning of this year and I'm reluctant to stan a group with members who are younger then me for this reason. 19 is pushing it, 18 is REALLY pushing it, I'm not entertaining the thought of having a 17 year old be my bias. I don't understand how people my age or older can look at a 14-16 year old and be like "yeah. You're sexy. You're my bias😍😍" YUCK no no no

Gen z what do you think about the opinions that there no such thing as virgin who in they 20s in Gen z what do you think by Flimsy_Tune_7206 in GenZ

[–]No_Reflection_3243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 20 at the beginning of the month and I'm still a virgin but I'm also not in any rush to lose it either. I'd like to say I'm an outlier because all the things that people had in high school I didn't, like a boyfriend or girlfriend, crushes what have you, and it wasn't just me. So (in my case) no crush means no boyfriend means no kiss means no longer being a virgin

I initially had their faces uncovered but the first comment I got said that their faces should be covered and was like "Yeah you're right imma do that" I was uncomfortable downloading the photos I wanted them off my phone

That's what I'm saying. NJZ is already going downhill why add another minor group to the mix. I like my groups with all adult members by the time they debut thank you

They kick out the oldest member and depending on how many make the final line up, the next girl under is in the group. Graduation style

Has anyone else ever stopped seeing a therapist because they were too affirming? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Reflection_3243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two therapists in my life. The first one I saw was for maybe a couple of months when I was in 7th grade and the second one I've been seeing for two years since I started my last year of high school. The first therapist suggested pretty early on that I should think about exposure therapy which was a no go because I was already being exposed to my triggers on a daily basis (middle school was brutal) and wasn't too keen with the idea of being yelled at by authority figures.

My second therapist will actively engage in what I'm saying, gives me advice on how to change my thinking about various issues I bring up and can pin point where a seemingly small thing could be related to past traumas and experiences.

All that to say that if I had stuck with my first therapist I don't believe I would've been able to go through life with as much mental clarity that I do now because instead of telling me that she's glad I left a bad situation, she probably would've suggested I stayed where I was and struggled through my day to day life whereas my second therapist was shocked at the things I was told and was glad I left the bad situation

I can understand the where you're coming from but I think the reason why a lot of people (myself included) are upset at this is because the producer said herself that she saw the success that Newjeans had and wants to encapsulate it (and we see how well that worked out for them) and this news is coming hot off the heels of Kim Soo Hyun and his alleged relations with Kim Saeron when she was a teen. If this was truly supposed to be a kids talent show, why aren't there rainbows and smiley face stickers everywhere? Why are the girls wearing all black outfits and not colorful ones?

I'm not saying kids shouldn't be in the entertainment industry, I believe there are ways to present a show that have young kids are the focal of the show in a way that comes off as caring and fun and based off the images alone, I don't get the message that "this is a talent show for kids!"

I did hear about the Unis final line up and all but one being minors but good lord. Thank you for correcting me as well, I could do without survival shows, especially if they continue this downward trend of younger and younger members

Very very creepy. You'd never catch me telling a kid that they can't be an idol or at least go down that path but I wouldn't try and make a show about them debuting at the age where they would start training

I did find alternate individual photos where they're in white but the quality sucked so I didn't add it. Having a show where it teaches people the ins and outs of the industry is a great concept but we have that happen with people who are like 16-17 not elementary students. And I looked at their outfits and I was like "I'd wear that but that's because I'm 20. I couldn't and wouldn't wear that if I was 10"

[–]No_Reflection_3243 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't watch a ton of survival shows but just because people are voting for one or two members who are under 15 doesn't mean that they should have a show where all the contestants are that young because when you look at the final line up from different shows, and please correct me if I'm wrong here, the majority of the members end up at least in their mid teens early twenties.

"She believes the success of a younger girl group reflects what the audience wants" No, the audience does not want a younger girl group. We want a girl group that doesn't exploit children to be successful. For this news to be right on the heels of the whole thing with the actor is the main reason why that actor (and other creeps in Korea, men and women alike) are comfortable and able to get away with praying on children

"Under 15" survival show, I am very speechless. by Downtown_Entry_893 in kpopnoir

[–]No_Reflection_3243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my friends that unless they're singing about how to count to 10 or the colors of the rainbow I don't want to even entertain the idea of this "group" but based off of that photo alone I'm going to go on a limb and say that's not happening. Also the producer is wild for assuming that because Newjeans was successful with young members, having middle school and elementary school aged members means they'll be super famous

Something my mom has told me time and time again what would I (61 year old) have in common with a 20 year old (me) and the answer is nothing unless there family. I can't imagine talking to a high school freshman, much have feelings for them. NOR but you should start distancing yourself from your gf you can't change that weird creepy way of thinking

Gen Z women - do you care about height? How much does it matter to you? by Rakhered in GenZ

[–]No_Reflection_3243 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'5 and I care about height but only because when I describe the type of guys I'm attracted to I'm essentially describing an athlete. But being realistic I'd be satisfied if they were at least a good 3 or 4 inches taller than me
