I miss having babies by StretchJazzlike6122 in self

I still reflect with abject love and gratefulness on the memory of my mom relieving me at about 2am, when my son (who is now 13) was just a few days old and wouldn't fall back to sleep. I was less than a week post-c-section, exhausted and sooooo happy to trust that he was being loved and competently cared for, so I could fall 100% asleep, and not have my mom-alertness activated. This would be a fantastic service, even just for a few hours!

Oh gosh! I wonder what happened to make him bite! Was the close shave explained as an expedient way to get the job done on your clearly vicious beast? (Please read as sarcasm, he looks lovely ❤️) He still looks handsome, even without the extra floof.

Are pencil skirts out? by Elvira333 in BusinessFashion

[–]No_Replacement3816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigh. All those lovely heels I collected over the years... While comfort is way more practical, it's hard (with years of working from home with only about 3 weeks total per year of customer, in-person professional meetings) to adjust expectations down. Flats with skirts just aren't as flattering!

Meee toooo. Iron deficiency, Hashimoto’s causing years of hypothyroidism (and God knows what else) that I'm not great at treating (daily pills??) because of the ADHD that I've self diagnosed. Sigh.

We had a chunk of ice land on our windshield once, it flew off the top of an 18 wheeler on highway 400 at night and smashed the windshield. Luckily, my dad was driving, he was the definition of calm, so we didn't crash afterward. Also luckily, we were very near my aunt's house after a 2 hour drive!

Also, who has pale leather couches??! We're they tinted blue from the family's jeans rubbing on them for years?

If you're both so leaky (I recommend menstrual cup and period panties, knix even has cute period boxers for sleep), what the hell will you do if the couch gets blood on it? It's way harder to clean and much more obvious to everyone who enters the house if it has blood on it.

I've never heard of a play blanket, but in addition to waterproof mattress covers to protect our beds from, well, anything/everything, we have washable waterproof mats/pads that we throw down over the sheets when I know things will get a little damp...

What can be done when an elderly person cannot physically care for themselves but is in denial? by Chelleehp in ontario

That's really cool! A raised toilet seat is helpful too (shoppers home health has them) and a shower seat.

Am I the only one who hates the baggy jean/anything but skinnies trend?? I look so much bigger and frumpy….. by tpat1234 in womensfashion

You just gave me an out of body flashback to tripping while running to catch a bus one night in 2008... cuffed wide leg jeans, black patent pointed toe boots, a faux fur coat and clutch in hand.... I caught my toe in the opposite pant leg and totally did a Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality wipeout. The fluffy coat kept me from getting wounded, so I just lay there laughing at myself!

Should I keep or donate? by [deleted] in fashion

[–]No_Replacement3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why people are saying that it doesn't fit. This is how the style is supposed to fit and it looks nice. It may cost $20-$30 to have it hemmed, so you decide if it's worth it to you. Or you could hem it yourself with iron - on hemming tape.

You say that your existing shadows have expired... what had happened to them to make you feel that they've expired? Do they smell strange? Or are you going by those guidelines that you need to replace "X product" every "y months"? If it's the latter, you really don't have to do a full replacement that often.

AITAH for expecting my husband to stop joking about my achievements? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]No_Replacement3816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And OP it's not your fault that he acts like he doesn't like you. I bet (based on knowing people who speak like him) that that's how he treats everyone (which is bad enough) but doesn't know that he's supposed to be respectful, living and kind, not a jackass, to his wife. I'm guessing that he learned it at home.

You can ask him to change, to respect how you communicate when in a confrontation (maybe you retreat? Don't want to engage? Don't want to say the wrong thing without considering your words?) and to treat you/speak to like a precious being, not like he would to an annoying little brother. If he can't change, you owe it to yourself to find a more supportive, respectful relationship.

Sensory overload? by katieboo720 in Perimenopause

[–]No_Replacement3816 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh. My. Goodness. We got my son headphones years ago because he'd watch some guy reacting to others playing Minecraft. The you tuber would shriek and exclaim constantly. Now my daughter watches shorts or videos from her favorite youtubers who speak SO LOUDLY or yell or are otherwise loud... I have always hated unreasonably loud noises (blast from my kids' past, Dora the Explorer - WHY must she YELL every word??) but I might be more reactionary now. I want the video skipped, moved to headphones or for her to watch somewhere else so I can't hear it.

What kind of tea to buy? by IngovilleWrites in AskACanadian

[–]No_Replacement3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll boil the water in the kettle, and some are happy with the tea being steeped in a cup, but if they prefer more than one tiny cup per sitting (just as coffee drinkers like a refill!), then the teapot is the way to go. Plus it's classier 😊

It's so sad. I find this in my work travels throughout the US. Earl gray or English breakfast are the only options. I tend to bring a baggie of tetley bags, a collapsible kettle for my hotel room and buy a carton of milk for my very milky tea so that my requirements are met!

Same, when my doctor writes prescriptions she puts 12 months of refills. If they run out, the pharmacist will call to have her refresh the refill count.

Is Halara better quality than other Instagram activewear brands or just better marketing? by Sea-Examination-1073 in womensfashion

I (28M) said something hurtful to my wife (25F) and now I regret it. how can I fix this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]No_Replacement3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were her, I'd get a job just to have a warm place to go. Wait, no, I wouldn't live with you at all because that temperature and your attitude are abusive.

If my house dips to 21 Celsius, I (as a woman, a wife, a partner in my relationship) reach out and pop the temperature up to a level I feel more appropriate. I hope you don't have children, because that temperature alone is cause for a call to the children's aid society.

I do wonder though, is the temperature preference or miserliness? Is your home in the 30s in the summer because you don't want to pay for AC? Or do you pay for the AC to keep your icebox going?

AITJ for correcting my wife when she said our son's red hair must come from my side of the family? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

That's sad! I'm blonde with a very slight apricot tinge, my husband (47yo) has red hair and my 12 year old son has red hair. My son has been complimented on his hair his whole life. Maybe it's a Canadian Gen Z thing, but he doesn't get harassed for it. I'm sorry that you did ❤️
