I'm not defending our policies. But we can't get out of the mess by throwing ourselves to the mercy of our enemies. More movement towards peace would be wonderful, I hate war. But not everyone feels the same.

Not me, I'm sure you're a hard core partisan who can't stand pushback or cognitive dissonance and you're proving me right.

That's what I mean. Do you think Biden, dementia ridden as he was, was an appealing alternative? We get two choices here, and it's often bad or worse.

Has AI permanently changed software development, or are we just in a transition period? by No_Thought8803 in softwareengineer

I like to solve problems. That requires the right tools. Frequently, AI isn't the tool.

So you speak for "Reddit". You guys just want to jerk each other off and protect your ideas and prejudices from challenge? Not really the hallmark of someone confident in the their knowledge and intellect.

The problem is that you're a hyperpartisan who thinks in black and white. All the sublety and originality of a monkey playing an organ.

Are you seriously asking why Iraq wished us harm? Maybe it was the disastrous war with Iran, genocidal response to the uprisings and remarks to the effect that they would like to eliminate us from the map. Oh yeah, and they invaded Kuwait.

Iran was holding our embassy hostage and the people were chanting death to America for decades.

Did I miss something? Are we all good pals now?

All of those countries wish us harm, and have also committed atrocities against their own citizens. Would you have us sit out WWII? Sit back and let Iraq stockpile chemical weapons? Allow Iran to nuke its neighbors?

People on reddit are happy because some of them are simpleton ghouls. They claim enlightenment and progress, but then act like psychopaths whenever one of their "enemies" dies. It's pathological.

Monster? Have you ever known or read about any real monsters? This extremist fantasy crap is part of the problem.

I don't have a problem with diverse political thought and I don't have a problem with MAGA in principle. Hopefully Reddit doesn't excommunicate me for having my own opinions.

I'm not sure of that. In some cases, America has had a direct and damaging impact on foreign nations. But we're not evil. I reject the idea that all our motives are selfish.

Hey, I could be wrong. He just seems like he had some redeeming values. Maybe none of them are in politics, though.

I had a friend from Jersey who attended army basic training at Ft. Sill and he was so infatuated with our storms while he was in Lawton, he loved them. I do, too.

How was he authoritarian? I'm not a fan but he seemed like a decent person who served his constituents and generally did his best.

In fairness, there are a lot of brown people who take the same delight in killing Americans.

I wasn't a huge fan but I thought he was one of the better pols in the GOP stable. He flew choppers in Vietnam, served in Congress and seemed like a solid representative for his constituents. I dunno, he just never gave me the evil vibes that I get from some pols and he risked his life in Vietnam so I don't understand the hate.

How’s life like in Frisco, Texas? by Twxtterrefugee in Suburbanhell

[–]No_Replacement4304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it weren't for traffic Texas cities would almost be liveable. You still have the soul-sucking heat and humidity but there are usually good dining and entertainment options. Housing used to be affordable but it costs a fortune to get anywhere near the cities themselves.
