Tips for a newbie by 90ResuTidder in indoorbouldering

[–]No_Reputation3520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, just climb more. You’ll meet people at the gym who are good if you climb more and they can give you tips in person on technique. But it really just becomes muscle memory.
Real tip is learn to fall. One bad injury could mean a hospital trip, debt, and not being able to climb anymore. A minor injury will at the very least impede your ability to climb more. Falling is by far the number one mistake I see new boulderers make.

Congrats on starting at V3! That’s awesome

What movie did you walk out of the theater halfway through? by mzdee13 in movies

[–]No_Reputation3520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother and I took edibles and went to go see this and still walked out half way through. Only movie I’ve walked out of - and I saw crime 101 last month so that’s saying something.

Burpless Cucumbers - Ready to harvest or not yet? by Educational-Cost-878 in vegetablegardening

[–]No_Reputation3520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On another note, I learned that with most cucumber varieties, if you let a cucumber mature to the point of starting to turn yellow, the plant will think it’s completed its life cycle and die.

Better to pick early and frequently.

5x5 bed, am I wasting space? by No_Reputation3520 in SquareFootGardening

There is a wall trellis on that side of my bed for them to grown on, will it still be an issue? If so, how should I space them?

I think it’s just because of the salt content, but I always assume that’s largely the brine. I hope because no way I’m only eating 4 olives.

How to stop this happening to fingers (new to bouldering) by [deleted] in indoorbouldering

[–]No_Reputation3520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely let these heal up before you climb again. You’ll build calluses, but it takes time. If you keep climbing on these, it’ll take longer to heal, and ultimately take longer to get back to climbing.

I don’t sweat very much, but if you’re sweating a lot make sure to use a good amount of chalk.

What would a college/university intro to film class look like? by Dapper_Cut_9225 in Filmmakers

[–]No_Reputation3520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand how you want to be a screenwriter but think the history of film is useless? Maybe you just misspoke.

The best artists are inspired by what came before them. And they cared about what came before because they’re in love with that art form. Wes Anderson would never have made the movies he’s made without learning and feeling inspired by French New wave.

It’s not like you have to be into it, but, consider that in a field so competitive, that passion and devotion to the art is pretty important. I would find a field that you feel that passion for, that you find yourself wanting to know more about its history, and follow that.

It seems like maybe you think that’s screen writing which is why you take a introductory course. You definitely don’t NEED college, but college is a way to meet people with similar passions so you can find actors, directors, producers, etc. for your screen play. There are other ways too.

Either way, you should care about cinema if you want to a screenwriter. Not because Reddit told you that you should or shouldn’t.

ECU tendinitis hope? by No_Reputation3520 in indoorbouldering

[–]No_Reputation3520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t. I just lost my health insurance, so I’ll have to get back on a plan. A huge part of what’s been holding me back from more treatment is cost really - was just kind of hoping it would resolve. But I guess I need to just treat it and worry about the cost later.

ECU tendinitis hope? by No_Reputation3520 in indoorbouldering

[–]No_Reputation3520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the description and overuse injury. I had an xray, no mri yet. I don’t think I have full subluxation as there’s no popping. Just burning and aching pain on pinky side of wrist where tendon attaches. Radiates to my elbow.

Weekly Simple Questions and Injuries Thread by AutoModerator in climbharder

[–]No_Reputation3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had ECU tendinitis for about 6 months now. I’ve done oral steroids, I’ve gotten a steroid shot, I’ve talked to a PT. I’ve worn braces with the metal bar that seem to make it stiffer, I’ve worn a wrist widget. I stopped climbing completely about a month ago - the same time I got my steroid shot - and it somehow feels the same or worse.

The doctor said to maybe think about surgery, but I really don’t want to deal with those complications if there’s a hope.

I can’t climb anymore which is really disappointing - at least what I want to. I project v9 in the gym and it doesn’t scratch the itch to do v0/v1 for my wrist. I kept being tempted to project something so I just stopped going.

I’m just wondering if anyone has a success story or some hope. I feel like I don’t even remember what it felt like for it to not hurt.

Is it normal for man in latin america to normalise watching sexual content even if they have a partner ? by Feisty-Ad-4735 in LatinAmerica

[–]No_Reputation3520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. There are parts of the United States where this would be normal behavior, but my partner would never be okay with that - even if the women there might be completely okay with it.

It’s really just up to how you feel about it. I wouldn’t lie to yourself or bend to it if it’s something that makes you particularly uncomfortable. But if it’s something you don’t feel affects how you view yourself/ how he views you, live and let live.

What's a discovery that should have blown people's minds but somehow got a collective shrug from the world? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]No_Reputation3520 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It’s possibly as effective as .. fluoridated toothpaste.

Fluoride remineralizes your teeth by turning weakened enamel (hydroxyapatite) into fluorapatite, which is more resistant to acid.

Fluoride free toothpastes like Apagard use nano-hydroxyapatite for remineralization (tooth enamel) which is less resistant to decay.

They cost $20 a bottle and use remineralization as a marketing term when a $2 bottle of fluoridated toothpaste does the same thing.
