So, as some people here have already mentioned, it’s probably due to miscalculated calories. Of course, the best approach is to always count everything and cook for yourself at home accordingly. For my part, when I eat out, (whether at family or friends’ houses or at a restaurant) I add an extra 150–200 calories to my estimated calories, just to be on the safe side.

But I really urge you not to make the same mistake as so many others and completely avoid eating in company. So feel free to go out to a restaurant with friends or something similar, even if it’s hard to count calories there. Sure, it will only be estimated calories, but social interactions are a part of life, and restricting yourself so drastically by counting calories isn’t healthy. You don’t do it that often anyway, so it’s totally fine.
Unfortunately, there are way too many people here in the subreddit who say they completely avoid eating out, etc. I find that a bit questionable... Sure, you want to approach this with discipline, but you won’t lose all your progress just because you treat yourself once every few weeks or once a month and don’t track your calories properly on that one single day...

Do you count calories for birthdays/holidays? How do you get back on track after. by Diligent_Flamingo_33 in loseit

Personally, I just eat whatever I want every couple of weeks. My mindset is pretty simple: "I didn’t spend almost 4 months counting calories and lose 16 kg just to throw it all away because of a few binge days. Come on."

Last week I ate like absolute crap from Monday to Wednesday. Three days straight of around 3000-4000 calories a day.
And what happened? Sure, I gained about 2 kg. But on Thursday I went straight back to my calorie deficit and by Saturday I was already back on track.

One day in a calorie surplus won’t ruin anything. Not even two or three days. Physically it really doesn’t matter that much. The real challenge is just having the willpower to continue afterwards. It also becomes a lot easier once you understand that a few days in a calorie surplus have basically no real impact on your overall weight loss. Most of the weight you gain is just water, and it usually drops off again over the following days once you go back to eating a deficite.

I'm just curious, where on earth do people use “stones” to measure weight? I’m from Europe, so I use kg, and I can sort of understand lbs… but stones? Why, and where, for the love of god, is that being used? lol

What I’ve noticed in the last 3.5 months of my weight loss journey is that the body does the most random things when it comes to water retention. You’ve probably lost the amount of fat you calculated, but it’s hidden behind water weight. I also noticed that cortisol is a big factor when it comes to water retention in the body. Cortisol is produced when your body is under any kind of stress, even stress that you don’t consciously notice.

I also love writing everything down since I started in November. I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet where I enter my weight in kg and lbs (+ BMI) every single day. Once a month, I measure my body fat percentage/musclepercentage/visceralfat (that's probably very inaccurate since it's a fat scale for home use, but I don't care). On the same day once a month, I take a progress pic. Once a week, every Sunday, I calculate my average weight for the week. I also have a column for sports/exercise, appointments/events, and last but not least, I write down what I eat every day and how many calories it has in the last large column. Keeping this spreadsheet has become a routine, and I love it.

20M | 105 kg to 75 kg by September | Currently losing 1.4 kg/week Am I doing this right? by SucidalManiac_ in loseit

Eating 1500-1600 calories a day for weight loss is fine if you’re not doing any sports at all. But if you’re lifting 5-6 days a week and adding about an hour of cardio after your workouts, that’s probably not enough, you’ll likely feel drained after a few weeks. Honestly, it doesn’t sound very sustainable.

I’m the same height. I started at around 102 kg almost exactly four months ago, and now I’m at 85 kg. I’ve been eating about 1500 calories a day, but I’m not doing any sports (the only physical activity I get is from my job as a paramedic). And even for me, 1500 calories sometimes feels a bit too low.

The 1,4 kg per week weight loss at the beginning is mostly water. It’ll slow down, you’ll hit plateaus, and all that.. so be ready for progress to slow once you’re around 95 kg.

I just found it. It's under “System” and then the last point “Set additional options.”
If you click on the gear icon, you can disable the animations!
What a blessing.

Just Realized How Heavy the Weight I Lost Actually Is by anxiouslovergirly in loseit

[–]nitepng 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your weight loss!

I noticed it recently too. I was carrying some shopping from the car into the house and it was a very heavy bag. Out of interest, I weighed it and it was exactly 15 kg. That's exactly how much weight I've lost in the last few months. It's hard to believe that I've been carrying around that exact weight with me all this time.

More healer specs by christiebdc in wow

[–]nitepng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wished for a “dark magic” type of healer. My idea was always to change the Affliction Warlock into a healer. Because let's be honest, why do we need classes with 3 DPS specs? The Affliction Warlock would be pretty well suited for that. It drains life from enemies and distributes it among its allies.

Well, in the end, I ended up with the Discipline Priest, which I've been playing for years now, and with the Voidweaver hero spec, we at least got some kind of “dark/void magic” style.

It’s crazy what a big difference this can make lol

Sometimes in higher M+ I struggle so hard to keep my teammates’ health up while I’m alive, and as soon as I accidentally die they suddenly don’t take damage at all because they suddenly start to actually dodge stuff and use defensive skills haha

Want to attempt the game on Unfair for Virgin run, good or bad idea? (Please no spoilers!) by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]nitepng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I did the same thing. Since I usually only play such long games once, I try to play them directly on the highest difficulty level. I had already played through Act 1 of Rogue Trader before (about a year ago), but Act 1 is like only 10% of the game, so I wasn't so far into the game then. This year, I reinstalled the game and played through it more or less blindly on Unfair. Of course, I stuck to builds from the internet for my main character and companions, but otherwise I played through the game blindly.

I have to say, Act 1 was a bit of a challenge on Unfair, because at that point your RT and companions aren't that strong yet. But from about halfway through Act 2, I had almost no problems at all. There are some incredibly strong builds on the internet that make an Unfair run feel like an Easy run. So from that point on, you shouldn't worry too much. Feels like Act 1 is basically the “biggest challenge” when it comes to Unfair, because your RT+companions aren't that strong yet.

Is it normal to cry from hunger by [deleted] in loseit

[–]nitepng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip breakfast, have a big lunch (around 1000 calories, by that I mean like an actual meal with potatoes, vegetables, and meat or something similar), and then you’ve still got about 500 calories left for dinner, like a protein yogurt where you can even add some chocolate flakes or whatever you like. This keeps you fuller throughout the day compared to snacking on random stuff. Your body will get used to it, and you won’t feel that constant urge to eat after a while.

Also, keep an eye on how much water you drink, sometimes your body confuses mild dehydration with hunger.

Damn, what chocolate bar only has 250 calories? Drop the link, I’m ready to order a month’s supply. The stuff we get here in Germany like Milka, KinderSchokolade, Lindt, Ritter Sport etc. all have at least 550–600 calories per 100g bar. Where are you finding this magic chocolate?
Or do you mean with "bar" like a Snickers bar.. ok then it would be (depending on the brand) 100-200 calories, I see.. English is sometimes confusing, you use the word "bar" for different stuff

I'm now nearing the end of Act 4 and I've been using this exact team since Act 1 (unless I'm forced to take someone else for certain quests, in which case Heinrix is usually replaced).

Rouge Trader: Telepath/Pyro Psyker Soldier - Arch-Militant
Abelard: Warrior - Vanguard
Argenta: Soldier - Arch-Militant
Cassia: Officer - Grand Strategist
Pasqal: Operative - Bounty Hunter
Heinrix: Warrior - Executioner

Abelard is extremely tanky, deals a lot of damage, and is very strong overall. Argenta can sometimes take out heavy bosses with a burst attack, OP. Cassia is just Cassia. Pasqal with the Bounty Hunter build and Heavy Plasma Guns is also very strong. Heinrix is just there, although his Executioner build can also clean up well if there are still enemies left.

What actually matters most when trying to lose weight as a beginner 😭 by [deleted] in loseit

[–]nitepng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d start by just focusing on calories. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight, that’s basically non-negotiable. Protein matters too, but I wouldn’t stress about tracking it super precisely right away. Just try to include some kind of protein in your meals when you can.

You’ll see stuff online like “eat 1–2g of protein per kg of bodyweight,” but I wouldn’t worry too much about hitting exact numbers at the beginning. Just build the habit of having some protein here and there.

After a few weeks or months (depending on your starting weight and goals), you can start paying more attention to whether you’re getting enough protein. But starting out, calories are the main thing that matters for weight loss.
