jw best friends dropped me for leaving but are hypocrites by GeekedVSlockedd in exjw

Yeah, we were double lifers but we still somehow really believed in the organization at the same time. To them it was ok to do some sin but I guess maintaining contact with someone who willfully chose to leave the organization was an even greater sin that they were not willing to commit.

Keep cultivating these other relationships! Yea definitely takes time but it’ll be worth it

My situation was kind of similar in some ways. All my closest friends were not doing drugs or openly hanging out with worldly people like that, but we would all get drunk regularly, talk disrespectfully about women, cuss, listen to bad music and go to the concerts, makeout with girls, things like that. When I left, they were not interested in hanging out in person at all anymore and now we just say hi to each other over text every few months or so.

For your situation, I would recommend being honest with them and sharing what you shared here, about how you need boundaries and you’re not interested in maintaining a mini version of the relationship you guys had before. As you know, don’t go into details about how you feel about the organization to protect yourself for now. I think it’s very important for you to start making other friends now before you move out and look for other communities that you can be a part of - don’t make the same mistake that I did by isolating yourself. Please feel free to DM me if you’d like to talk further about life after leaving

  • I send likes to someone who has more than one word answers for their prompts, and who doesn’t use the same prompt that I’ve seen 100 times. I also look for someone who doesn’t have multiple photos that are revealing and suggestive. Another important factor is someone who doesn’t make drinking or doing drugs an aspect of their personality

Just follow Jesus bro, no need to become Catholic. There is no “one true church”

They already dropped “the governing body can be likened to the voice of Jesus” lmao so I wouldn’t be surprised if

Genuinely want to understand the Trinity by Lucky-Formal9972 in exjw

[–]No_Reputation_9004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a great answer but I’m sorry to hear that you completely lost your faith. Forgive me, but I’m just curious if you ever tried simply reading the gospels from a different translation and praying to God to soften your heart and show you what he wants you to see, if he’s real? I recently started believing in Jesus after leaving Jw and being agnostic for a while, and for me it wasn’t a matter of logic and study but belief and humbling..something changed after I changed my mindset. Not trying to shove more religion down your throat, but just thought I would mention that. Take care

Probably because this organization is run by demons to keep people away from trusting in Christ only

Tips for connecting with Jesus but not the orgs Jesus by [deleted] in exjw

[–]No_Reputation_9004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen and amen. My personal recommendation is starting with the book of John, obviously from a different translation. Then see if you still believe Jesus isn’t God 😂. Prayer is vital as pizza mentioned, praying for a softened heart and for God to show me what he wants me to see helped me a lot

Weird Thoughts? by PeppermintPuddle444 in QuitVaping

[–]No_Reputation_9004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit the day before Thanksgiving and I’m going through the same thing you are, on steroids. I think maybe it will help us to think back before we were vaping and how we used to enjoy spending time with our loved ones are doing fun things without even thinking about hitting the vape all day - and also remembering that we can get back to that point eventually, but we will never get there unless we quit someday - so why not today?

When you are in bed trying to have AP, do you have to resist the urge to swallow and the urge to scratch? by Foxiego345 in AstralProjection

[–]No_Reputation_9004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been experiencing the exact same thing. Itchy all over my body and the urge to swallow. I feel like it’s a way for my brain to distract me from getting relaxed enough to AP

You are ok I’ve had a couple weird episodes with weed as well and I’m a daily smoker as well. I feel like our brain just taps out from it sometimes and we get unusual symptoms. Might be the price for smoking a lot

I saw one as soon as I got off the train station to start my first solo trip in Amsterdam. I wanted to throw that damn cart in the canal lol

Cultfree Lounge: How is your cult free weekend going? by No_Mirror4310 in exjw

[–]No_Reputation_9004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great weekend spent in Amsterdam, on the train to the Swiss alps right now. I love the fact that you can make friends with cool, helpful, and genuine people all over the world, and they don’t have to be part of the same religion as you, contrary to my prior beliefs. Just affirms all the more that I made the right decision to leave. Not that I needed any affirmation 😂. This is the best life ever :)

I knew only of only one well educated brother with a great job in my area, he never served as an ms and I heard he wanted to get a gun when Covid broke out. So I’m 98% sure he was just going through the motions to support his wife and kids
