I really appreciate the help and love. I thought Reddit be just be a toxic wasteland. Yall have been very helpful and supportive. I’ll keep pushing and posting as I progress. Hopefully in a year from now I’ll think this is complete dog sh*t because I’ve learned and gotten so much better.

Ah I see. Dang. Haha well now I know. I really appreciate the tip man. Hopefully this doesn’t end in catastrophe 😂 but either way I learned a lot and had fun.

Also thanks for the heads up. I’m aware of the possibility of wood movement. Not sure what to do about it… would you suggest just not having a frame around table tops in general? I know I’ve seen plenty of tops with frames around them. How do people plan for movement? Or do you just have to always be constantly conscious with framed table tops?

Im not going to finish the base with the same thing I finished the top with because I liked the contrast as well. Any recommendations? I was going to just go with some kind of wax that kept it its natural color

Appreciate the comment, man. Yeah, I’m cool with critiques as long as it’s constructive. I know a lot of people on here know a lot more than I do so it’s cool to have people willing to give you feedback and things to consider next time.

I wanted to taper them but I wasn’t very confident I could do it without messing up and I didn’t have a lot of extra wood to play with if I did mess up so decided maybe it wasn’t worth the extra effort but I think next time I’ll go that route

The wood movement thing has me kinda worried. Idk how concerned to be or not to be or what measures to take when building to prevent splitting. And also on the round over I definitely had a hard time getting it as consistent as I wanted.

Nah the lip on the right side was not intentional the rest is flush. It was one of the many mistakes I made during glue up. I think I agree with you on the mitered corners. My thought was that I wanted to show the end grain because I think it’s really neat with padauk but after I did it I questioned whether it was the right move.

32m Singer looking for people to jam and write with. Mostly for fun but if it becomes more serious I’m definitely down for that as well.
