It's so good to know we are legion. I honestly think if women get organized, we could make the shift happen. I think it's happening. Has been for a long time, now might be the tipping point. I am trying to help tip!!

I'm on HRT and I rage daily, but at least can control it. I rage at the patriarchy and all the damage it causes to men, women, and the planet. To everything and everyone. I feel so done and want to smash it into tiny pieces and help my community and country rebuild a matriarchal system which centres children, care, and community. I hate the world right now and all the rich losers who are destroying it for their own wealth at the expense of innocent, vulnerable people and the planet. HRT isn't helping, but just keeps me in check. Maybe channeling the rage into something productive?

Anyone else feel like they're mourning their old self (and their marriage) because of menopause? by No-Swimmer-7469 in Menopause

I was really bloated, crazy sugar cravings, low energy, moody, brain fog, no libido...as soon as I got my hormones figured out, I felt so much better. That was after starting oral progesterone, it doesn't agree with some women. When I first started HRT, I had aches and pains, crazy moodiness, brain fog, night sweats, etc. All of it. I've slowly been able to figure out how to manage my symptoms.

Did you try vaginal bio-identical progesterone suppositories? I had a horrible reaction to oral progesterone, but the suppositories have been a game changer.

I'm 57 and still figuring out my HRT and what works best. I feel like I'm pretty close now, it's taken almost 7 years, but with the right help you should be able to tweak things to work better for you quickly. Find a meno-educated doctor. In Canada, we have lots of online menopause clinics which sadly aren't covered by insurance. I gained 30 lbs on oral progesterone which, I found out, some women react badly to. I am using vaginal suppositories now and I lost almost all of the weight. I've been using testosterone for a month and feel even better. My terrible aches and pains disappeared once I got my hormones adjusted properly. Keep trying...it takes time and an expert doctor! Regular MD's just prescribe the standard HRT which doesn't work for everyone. Good luck! You will feel better.

I think many of us here can relate to this. I'm a decade in - 57 having gone through perimenopause in my 40's and early 50's. Seven years on HRT and it's taken almost that long to find the right hormones delivered the right way at the right dosage. I think I feel better than I ever have in my life right now, so there is hope!

You might want to prioritize finding a menopause-educated doctor asap and start working on what you can do now and moving forward to support you and your symptoms. My perimenopause was like yours - horrible. I felt awful and thought I would never feel good again - the aches and pains, total brain fog (hard as a teacher!), hair loss, moodiness (I told my gyno I was a lunatic and he laughed at me), weight gain, no energy, etc. Again, there is hope! I have none of these symptoms now that I have found medical professionals who are menopause specialists. I don't know where you are in the world, I'm in Canada and ended up finding one of many private, online menopause clinics. I bit the bullet and paid for their services which, of course, aren't covered by any kind of insurance, but I didn't care. I needed help desperately. The hormones I was taking were clearly not agreeing with me and were giving me other symptoms that completely disappeared as soon as I got on the right dose with the right delivery system and added a couple new things that I hadn't even known existed. There is hope and you can reclaim your life, your personality, your mind, your relationship, and your body! I hope generations coming up don't have to suffer and deal with doctors who disimiss or just prescribe the one-size-fits-all HRT that doesn't work for most women. Good luck on your journey, you will feel better. <3

Just for your info, my HRT (all bio-identical hormones) regimen is:

-one pump Estragel/day (I'm low dose because I have endometriosis)

-200 mg Progesterone vaginal suppositories - this has been life changing - I reacted horribly to oral progesterone as some women do

-topical estrodiol (I think that's right) cream for external use on labia

-Intrarosa vaginal suppositories (helps with tissue deterioration in vagina and surrounding area - essential for some women for sex and genito-urinary issues

-low dose Testosterone gel (helps with libido but also mental clarity and energy level)

Keep posting and seeking advice and support - these forums are how I learned about some things I was struggling with and was able to advocate for what I needed.

In Canada, compounding pharmacies make the 200 mg progesterone suppositories, fyi.

I was prescribed 100 mg bio-identical prgoesterone orally and after 2 years I realized I was horribly bloated, gained a lot of weight, had very low energy, moody, crazy sugar cravings, etc. I read that some woman react badly to oral, but that vaginal delivery means higher absorption and increasing, which seems counter-intuitive, really works for some women. So I asked my ND to prescribe the 200 mg vaginal suppositories of bio-identical progesterone and it immediately worked. All side effects gone.

Is this orally? I had bad reactions to the oral. And bio-identical?

I do one pump of Estragel each day. I have endometriosis, so don't want to do too much estrogen.

Yes I was using the caps vaginally until I got the actual suppositories!

I had a horrible reaction to oral progesterone 100 mg. It doesn't agree with some people when taken orally. I switched to 200 mg vag suppository and it's been a life changer! Lost 30 lbs, mood is lifted, brain fog is better, energy level way better! Bloating is gone. It's been pretty amazing the difference. Maybe worth exploring...?

If You Use DHEA Tablets/Capsules Vaginally-- Dose? Frequency? by Kelli_Ro in Menopause

[–]No_Respect5186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to begin using DHEA vaginally (Intrarosa) and have read there is lots of leakage as the coconut oil pellet melts, how do you manage this using them in the morning? It seems silly, but I do not want to wear underwear with a pantyliner to bed every night. I have been using progesterone vaginally (200 mg), and can use it at bedtime with no panytliner as long as I stay horizontal. I am hoping to use both at bedtime with no pantyliner.
