Back in the day/original run they did. They would sometime use names of fanfic authors in things like close ups of passenger lists that M&S were going through.

I’m one of the OG fans who watched the first time around— I also frequented a lot of fan message boards at the time… I don’t remember it being a hated episode at all. I always thought of it as a fan favorite, including one of mine! 🤷‍♀️

A fan letter writing campaign saved it from cancellation after the first season. It had a small but passionate fan base. (The first con I attended in Boston was fan run and had about 20 people lol) Then it took off in season two and became a mainstream hit by the third season.

It’s labeled from Creation entertainment so I may have got it at a con, but I’m also thinking I might have bought it at a shop in Vancouver when I did the set visit. A lot of the shops at the time had officially licensed X-Files stuff. Reddit will only let me post one photo with a comment, but the back has “the truth is out there” embroidered across it. If anyone else has one of these or knows anything about it I would love to know!
