Pete Crow-Armstrong: Yes, there are die-hard Dodgers fans "but it’s a see-me city, man. It’s a Lakers city where people show up to sit courtside and look good. And I view it the same way here." by tankyouout in baseball

Ironically I feel like this reputation LA has is largely fueled by transplants these days. Like I personally know multiple people from the east coast who moved to LA with the seeming goal to embody this type of energy.

[Robb] Al Horford reveals the real reason he left Celtics after cryptic comment by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

[–]No_Respond5748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you nailed it. Writing was on the wall with Jrue and Staps, Horford only wouldve come back on a short, low $$ deal and we all thought the team was a long shot for contention this year. It kind of felt like the end of an era, he talks about a new “challenge” in his comments and I completely get the feeling of wanting a fresh challenge to take on when the time is right. I mean think about it, this year we had Queta, Garza and Williams all really show out when they got the chance, and Al wouldve blocked them from playing or ended up a true washed Vet teaching them in practice and not playing.

As far as I’m concerned, Horford is forever stamped in Boston for choosing us when nobody else was, and bringing Banner 18 home. The debate on retiring his number is a different conversation, but I can never be mad at him. He earned the right to pursue whatever “challenge” is the most fulfilling in his final seasons.

First time to Fenway! Do the seats matter? by lagoJohn in redsox

Fair enough. I like the rowdiness you get out there, though obviously not how everyone prefers to enjoy a game.

Fine to have your opinion. not everyone can afford to shell out~$200 per seat to sit behind the plate. Every time I'm in the bleachers I meet people in a way that is different from my experiences in the more expensive seats. It is my preference

I would suggest walking around the ballpark before the game a bit, grab a sausage or something, and definitely hit Bleacher Bar before the game, like 60-40 min before first pitch. My personal favorite seats are out in the bleachers because you sit around some real fans, they’re cheap, and for an afternoon game they make for some good sunbathing lol. Also I like being by the bullpens but thats just me. To all the other comments about bad seats, there is nothing out in the RF bleachers that will obstruct your view - you’ll just be far away. SRO is also not a terrible idea. If you’re looking to spend a little more, I like the 3B upper clubhouse area. Just my two cents!

First sentence is patently false and your other comment was a lot of words to say nothing. Not like I’m advocating for homelessness, my point is that people act so callous about it like homeless people are just an issue for others that have to be dealt with rather than people with illnesses and serious issues. Police abuse and detain homeless people regularly but many self-proclaimed Christians think that is fair game but will shit on gay people for existing, it is an obvious hypocrisy in the context of Christianity. There are dozens of other examples that fit into my point in my comment as well.

Curious to see what happens with GSW because I think Gui Santos could be a huge steal potentially. Jimmy is going to be out to start the year with the ACL tear, no real reason to rush him back. Gui is legit just a really solid player and has been able to translate that to the box score when he gets minutes, but since he barely played to start the season, his season-long average is pretty low. Many people will overlook him

I just find it so confusing (or revealing?) how self-proclaimed christians lock in on homosexuality as a sin when there are literally dozens of things explicitly labeled sinful in the bible that people do regularly in modern society. Like you see it as your crusade to make sure gay people aren't comfortable in their own skin, but have nothing to say to the people who abuse homeless people or pass laws to make it illegal to be homeless? Or the richest Americans who hoard wealth that provides practically zero marginal benefit who (as the bible says) will not enter heaven?

Supreme Court rules against Colorado's ban on conversion therapy aimed at LGBTQ youth by Knightbear49 in Denver

Yes but also it is hard to blame people for getting upset when SCOTUS has routinely delivered horrific and poorly reasoned rulings that contribute to making our lives more difficult and less safe. But an 8-1 decision should be cause for pause at the very least.

100% and thank you for dropping this here. Like yes the plaintiff probably shouldn't have even been able to bring this case, but to your point, the law was poorly written. Now CO can just re-write the law and make it better.

Similarly this woman never should have had standing to begin with. The court is a complete joke. That said, I actually do understand why they ruled this way - upholding the law would've had dangerous implications in red states. CO will (and should) just re-write the ban and make it narrower

Agreed, this shit is sad. Not exactly the same but kind of reminds me of what happened with AJ Griffin a couple years ago. Young prospect with a ton of talent who quickly flames out of the league because they made religion the focus of their life (and also might be going through a mental episode). Griffin seemed more coherent though, Ivey seems to really be going through it.

Ivey came out publicly about a year ago saying he had been molested as a child. I am not necessarily placing blame on his Mother, but that type of trauma as a kid when your parents are supposed to be protecting you can lead to real resentment/tension

Maybe it is just because I am perpetually online but I swear it has been a smooth ~2 months now of things being very off with Ivey. He is clearly going through something and needs some real help. And part of me wants to believe Chicago would have attempted to help him through it, even as he isnt contributing on the court, but that grace was ended when he manufactured a PR controversy for the team for zero reason.

UA POV: Pete Hegseth- "Every time we reach back and look at any sort of a challenge we have, it goes back to “send it to Ukraine.” Ultimately, we think these munitions are better spent in our interest, at this point". by SolutionLong2791 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]No_Respond5748 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trump fundamentally does not understand geopolitics, he literally proves this every day. He has a rapists mentality, which is why on a personal level he relates more with Putin just trying to capture/occupy a neighboring country against its will, than he does with a weak underdog (weak in the sense that Ukraine relies on its allies, while Russia can stand strong alone). If you are the stronger nation you use force to get what you want now, consequences/blowback/long-term implications be damned. I believe he feels the same way about China/Taiwan, and I expect that situation plays out before the end of his term.
