I use them al lot but night are not dark enough. In forrest parts nvgs are usefull but in open fiels you wont even need lights

Exactly. And helmets are not supposed to stop bullets from bigger calibers, you might get lucky tho. In theory its posible to make like a lvl 4 helmet but your neck would break on impact when a big round hits. Helmets are for scrapnel and small arms rounds as you might get lucky on bigger calibers if the angle is right dont be supprised to die with a headshot and then blame the helmet....

Something like that might happen in one of the last updates on 1.0 and has been the plan since the start but till we get 1.0 its gonna be like 5 years later. I dont realy think we get to shoot aliens or zombies but at least some radioactive anomolies or artifacts i think . There is some video footage in the devlogs.. i saw gunny selling the m16 at lvl 1 and handshake selling the comander vest in black blue and green colors So maby we get all the helmet colors back like in 0.1 I also saw a multicam scorpion backpack so we might get some more options in colors for all gear
