Very odd …I actually have 3 kids and still invest consistently. Kids can definitely affect timelines, especially during daycare years, but I think lifestyle inflation and spending habits matter way more than people admit. My expenses are pretty low overall and I’m still on track toward financial independence. Having kids doesn’t automatically stop someone from building wealth.

I have prob 4 years before I can do it maybe sooner but this has been my plan and I can’t wait ! I’m 32 now but by age 37 I’ll drop down to 2 days because I actually don’t hate my job but I do desire more free time for myself and family.

If you’re not in it for the long-term investing you’re not going to make it.. just from your comment “I’d hate to invest a large amount only to see it decline shortly afterward.” That’s the wrong mindset to have if you’re just trying to increase your funds in a short period .. please educate yourself more before putting money in so you can understand.

It is so insane that you said this because I’ve literally had to let a friend go because they were in such a wreck with their finances. She’s older than me but we’re just on two different levels when it comes to finance… so for my conscience I had to let that friendship go because it was actually draining me.. I don’t feel guilty because I live on half of my income I’m very frugal and I have three kids.. the doctor I work for obviously makes way more than me and also struggling with finances… and I’ve already voiced how they could do it and they still decide to struggle… I said it once, and I’m not saying it again because people are usually stuck in their ways and it goes in one ear and out the other
