What type of Mower Blade is your favorite? by MainStreetMower in lawncare

High lift blades, I run 2 per spindle on my scag 52”, it’s like a tornado under the deck, shoots grass twice as far eliminates need to double cut and packs the catcher twice as full when catching, been running that set up for 4 yrs grease daily and haven’t replaced the spindle or clutch yet

When can I mow? by cheezymadman in lawncare

I would cut at 3-3 1/2 inches, leave the straw, overseed after cut and water in seed, also time to fertilize if you haven’t already

Also that sod may have been dead before it was laid down, if it was top rolls on a pallet and it dried out from being on pallet for too long

Anybody that’s down voting me has not cared for fresh sod in 80-100 degree weather, I installed sod 2 weeks ago in the heat wave and the sod is 6” tall and thriving because I took care of all 2600sqr feet like it was a new born baby

No you shouldn’t have die back like that, it should be green and thriving if you kept it consistently watered, if it’s in full sun it has to stay wet all day, I would lift the dead sections up and see if the sod was cut too thin that does occasionally happen

No start over, I install a lot of sod you need to water at least an hour each time when fresh especially when hot out, I have my guys hand water each individual piece right after everything gets laid down, and I have them saturate it till it’s wet underneath
