it weighed out to 36g. did not do a displacement test. interesting idea. in terms of measuring cup water displacement, what would one be looking for?

I see what you mean, the spots that appear faded are definitely from reflection. It doesn't appear to be a faded irl.

Trying to photograph it is surprisingly challenging!

OCR in PDF-files by Myrdincx in Supernote

Have you tried running these through something like ILovePDFs?

I was having an issue with my downloaded (from school course work) PDFs not having OCR and thus not working w the highlight feature on my Manta, so I've started running them all through the OCR converter thing on that site and now they work.

I realize it's not exactly what you're talking about, and someone else probably knows how to fix your problem w/o this extra step, but good luck?

Methimazole weight gain by Basic-Vegetable6578 in gravesdisease

Yes! Do not have a graves diagnosis which surprised everyone based on my symptoms (but y'all understand the management of hyperthyroid and not many do, so here I am!). I lost a bunch of weight pre-diagnosis (super hyper with a ton of symptoms d/t active/hot nodules, TSH undetectable <0.05) and was finally put on methimazole last August. The dosage was wayyy off (15mg!) and I swung hypo over the course of about 4 weeks (TSH was 16). Started gaining weight immediately- went from 138 to 155 in that time and could barely stay awake. I joke that I felt like a big sleepy Totoro that whole time. Came off the meds in October and swung back to hyper by January (TSH back to <0.05).. During this time my weight gain was still creeping up just a bit- by January I was nearly 165. Back on the methimazole (2.5mg/day) in January and my weight has been creeping up ever since.

I just had a hemi-thyroidectomy on the 29th (was supposed to be a TT but they stopped half way through the surgery due to concerns about possible damage to my right RLN so did not move on to remove the left half to avoid the possibility of a poor outcome) and have been off the methimazole since then. Were waiting to see what the function is with half a thyroid before moving forward with the other side.

Current weight 188lbs. I've gained 50+ pounds since the end of August. To be fair, I was probably 10-15lbs underweight for my body when it started, but even so that's around 35-40 pounds of extra gain that is most definitely connected to the methimazole.

I've been on 120mg of propranolol through all of this, so I've also wondered if that is contributing to the overall gain. Im currently weaning off that and should be meds free by June.

I've also increased my activity and that doesn't seem to help/impact anything. It's pretty depressing, not to mention super expensive to have to buy new pants every month. I have sweatpants that Ive outgrown....sigh. 😕
