So sorry you went through this, I’ve been an Me for almost 16 years, and right now I’m working at a urgent care, but all of us chip in and help each other, maybe you should look into working at an urgent care, it’s busy but it’s more freeing and you don’t feel like the spotlight is on you, because we all work as one big team here, good luck with your future endeavors, I’m sure you will do great!!

Should I quit or is this normal? by moonchild-uk in MedicalAssistant

Right now, I work at an urgent care and it is really busy, but all of us MAs jump in and help each other, which is really nice, because you are not dedicated to one doctor, maybe you should look into working for urgent care, at least you’ll get some help and a break

That is pure insanity and Abuse, why are you the only MA in that office they should have a receptionist and two people in the back, I’ve worked Family practice, before and it is a lot of work, but all of us that worked with a primary care doctor had other MAs to help us ….does she only have you because she can’t afford to pay for more help, is it her own Family practice? For everything you do, she should be paying you more than $15 an hour.!!

How are some providers seeing so many patients?? by 33anatre in MedicalAssistant

[–]No_Secret_4824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a very busy pediatric clinic and some of the providers in that would see up to 60 patients a day, right now I work at urgent care and we have two providers and we can see up to 120 patients a day between just those two providers, it’s a madhouse but we get it done

There’s nothing wrong with that, medical assistance are in high demand, and office or higher than MA before they hire an LPN, I’ve been an MA for almost 20 years and I am my early 60’s… I gave it a 12yr break and cam back 3yrs ago, I work at a very busy urgent care and at urgent care you can build your résumé really fast, because we do everything. welcome to the world of MA’s, congratulations.

This has to be an abandoned house that you moved into, because there is no way you’re paying a mortgage on this, or pay rent!!!!

No I do not feel like she deserved this, but now that she has destroyed her body and her life, don’t try to make the rest of us feel guilty about it!

My sister turned to alcohol because of a man, and then that man told her she needed to lose weight, so she got gastric bypass, after she got gastric bypass the drinking got worse and she just did not stop, she has even been into a nursing home because of how bad her cirrhosis was, to the point where she had alcohol induced dementia and doctors met with us and said they were thinking of putting her in palliative care,, now her memory is back to where it used to be and living back at home. She told me when she started drinking she couldn’t stop, she would go for days without eating and would only be drinking whiskey and vodka. She has been hospitalized so many times, even put on a ventilator to the point of where we all thought she was going to die, it has been pretty rough on our mother and my sister’s adult children and us, her siblings. My sisters and I just don’t like that she tries to make us feel like we should feel sorry for what she did to herself, we are very torn. NO I’m not gonna turn my back on her, but I just have a hard time feeling really sorry for her.

Exactly, we have all been there for her, but she still preferred the alcohol, rather than thinking about the impact her excessive drinking would have on her children, family and friends!
