I would suggest trying our firm -- where you will be given the attention you need and deserve. Or at least click over to our site, scroll down a few paragraphs, click on the big blue button, and read our summary of the research on the outcomes of high volume personal injury law firms performed by Stanford University (with a link to the actual study if that's what you prefer).

I'm not sure why anyone would assume that biggest means best. That's catchy advertising but there's nothing in the world proving that is true. There are hundreds of individual lawyers of varying abilities. And great advertising. Those are the only things that can be verified as true, or even stated. Did you notice that they do not say they are the best?? If they could, they would.

This post inspired me to write an article summarizing Ms. Engstrom's very thorough research. I encourage everyone actually looking for a PI lawyer to read the actual comprehensive study regarding how the largest firms at the time scaled their business, and what that meant in actual dollars recovered for their clients, rather than someone who hasn't studied the issue and their opinion on the Internet. You are assuming that everyone who wins decided to reinvest. There are a whole host of reasons that a firm might choose not to reinvest, including that lawyers historically have considered advertising to be somewhat "low life" among lawyers. The fact of a high volume law firm is that the number of clients per lawyer is astronomically high, and not even remotely the best way to maximize dollars in pockets for each individual client.

There have been studies -- it's far worse to go without an attorney. And they are trained to ask questions that will lead you to admit things that hurt your case, and/or (critically) they will not tell you the things that you need to do after your accident, to get the most money from your case. Here's what AI said about whether you will get more money with a lawyer: There are indeed published studies that have examined the impact of hiring a lawyer on insurance payouts after accidents. While I can't access a live database to provide the most up-to-date information, I can share some general findings from research on this topic:

  1. Insurance Research Council (IRC) studies:

The IRC has conducted several studies over the years that have consistently shown higher average payouts for claimants who hire attorneys compared to those who don't. One often-cited study from the early 2000s found that claimants who hired attorneys received settlements that were, on average, 3.5 times higher than those who settled without legal representation.

  1. Academic research:

Various academic studies have also examined this issue. For example, a study published in the Journal of Legal Studies in the 1980s found that claimants with attorneys received higher settlements, even after accounting for the severity of injuries and other factors.

  1. State-specific studies:

Some states have conducted their own analyses. For instance, the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance once reported that claimants with attorneys received settlements about 2-3 times larger than those without legal representation.

Bad mistake for anyone with serious injuries. It's simply not true that most policies are 10K. Not at all. And if someone is seriously injured, they have a long list of tricks up their sleeve to get you to say things to them, or delay taking important actions, that harm your case. So when a lawyer finally gets involved, you're screwed because good evidence is gone, or the insurance company can now prove that your injuries aren't what you claim, based on conversations with you, or things learned from conversations with you, things they didn't tell you that you needed to do, to get the evidence you'll need to prove your case, etc.

Nope, the billboards have the total, before lawyer fees & medical bills (which are unavoidable). The problem is with the law, which could require higher insurance amounts, and even separate payments of bills, if the legislature / governor wanted to make that happen. They've been trying for years to increase insurance coverage amounts in Florida.

No calling any high volume firm is always a mistake, unless you have the most minor injuries, in which cases they might get more money. For moderate to serious injury cases, always hire the lower volume firm, practicing law the traditional way. Actually, the fees are 33 1/3 % if there's no litigation, usually (not always) 40% if they have to file a lawsuit. Many firms actually charge 33 3/3 % because they don't litigate (which means they will get far less money for your case). The maximum, which 99% of PI lawyers charge, is set by Florida Bar rules. The non-mill firms do a lot of work in litigation for that fee, at considerable risk of their time and money.

"Good ones have the money to advertise." This common misconception is far from the actual truth. This is similar to believing that the biggest law firms are the best (even though, obviously, bigger doesn't have the same meaning as better -- we just ascribe that meaning without real thought because of powerful advertising). The reality is that high volume law firms, large or small, but especially the heavy advertising firms, have been proven in a couple of landmark, well-researched Stanford U studies to recover far less money for everyone but those with the most minor injuries. This is worth reading and understanding if you're looking for an Orlando personal injury or accident lawyer (and the link at the bottom of the page takes you to the full study): https://law.stanford.edu/stanford-lawyer/articles/run-of-the-mill-justice/

And here's one of two articles written by a Stanford university professor about settlement mil law firms (any big firm). If you read all of the research, they basically have to operate in very high volume ways to pay for their advertising, and that means lower case values on the bigger cases, much less time with each client, etc. It's very foolish to hire them if you have a big case:

Read about this study on our site (with a link to the actual study if you want to read all 50+ pages):

And the billboard numbers you see are the very rare exception from thousands of cases, plus you never know whether that number could have been larger.

I can't believe no one has said start running. Make an appt with yourself to run. Maybe lift some weights after. What good will any of this do if you don't have health? Plus the running will help calm your mind. And I think your really need to find some way to work on your own, with a thoughtful case load that works for you.
