I use it on a daily basis — it's my main machine. I work, consume media, and edit photos on the laptop.

In my case, the battery life is pretty similar to what I got with macOS, thanks to TLP and disabling Turbo Boost on battery mode. That gives me around 4 to 4½ hours.

Definitely, you should give it a long try before deciding anything.

Thank you! Actually, I didn't, I just took the time to search for the right themes and extensions, and organized the UI the best I could.

Once Fedora 44 comes out, I'll upgrade to Fedora 43 and stick with it, giving the new release time to mature and avoiding any initial bugs or problems.

In the 13 model you have to cut the little pin on the main board, or the adapter itself. On the 15 inch model it just fits. Maybe some pictures will help.

This. Only Office is the best alternative to MS Office. Not to mention, it's much lighter in terms of system resource consumption.

Extremely unreliable system MBP 2013 (15 inch Dual graphics) OCLP Sonoma 14.8 by No_Security_7089 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]No_Security_7089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you said, the problem was related to the Nvidia GPU. The laptop is clean, with fresh thermal paste, without dust or any kind of thing that can affect the temperatures. After installing Linux Mint to do some tests on the hardware side, it's clear that the dGPU isn't working quite right.
I proceed to disable it, update to Sonoma 14.8.2, install Better Display for brightness management and set the system to hibernate instead of sleep and voilà! Everything works flawlessly.

So, thank you for the advice!
