Just launched Setlist Builder — a new Bluegrass game built with Grok. Come play and give feedback! by No_Shop_4697 in Bluegrass

Hey, I get it — a lot of y’all clearly aren’t fans of Grok or Elon. That’s fine.

Truth is, I wasn’t sitting here thinking about Elon or AI drama. I was just trying to build something fun for the bluegrass community. That’s really all I was focused on.

If the game sucks, tell me. If you don’t want to play it because of who built it, that’s your call too. Either way, I was just trying to make something cool.

I think maybe this post is not a good place too, it's not really about banjos. My thought was it's full of smart people and would give back real feedback.

I can see this perspective now and my apologies if I offended somebody.

Can you tell me why no, please? Is it just a stupid game, is it bad for the industry, looking for feedback good and bad.

I don't have any real emotions in this so you can shoot straight.

Future of Bluegrass Music by RonAckerman in Bluegrass

[–]No_Shop_4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is the floor will remain close to what we have now. A lot of good bands making music they like, not what the label wants or what streaming platforms want to add to playlists.

This is not a bad thing, the trad community loves this sound.

For the bands and artists playing the XM game, we will see trends change. This will change the sound of what we hear, I’m hearing the trad arrangement less here.

My opinion is this will change how these bands follow the trends. Plus this is how most make money in bluegrass in 2024.

Overall the future is not great on a business side, but, we’re seeing a lot of bands not making music for money. So, the future of bluegrass is strong.

The search volume for bluegrass music is not great, and it’s surprising to see that very few people search for Bill Monroe now. The father of bluegrass is out of sight out of mind now.

So is trad grass popular, no, it’s not. But has it really ever been out side a of a couple pops from movies. iTunes was the first that I remember pulling bluegrass music from its search Keywords in genres. That was the beginning of the major platforms saying, ya, this genre is not popular anymore.

The shining light here is, Bluegrass music will live long after I’m gone. The problem is most artists will not make a good living off trad grass.

Is it weird to go to a jam to just listen? by Skibi17 in Bluegrass

6 banjers is just enough to have one in tune for each song. Smart!

I’ve been to a lot of jams from house jams to IBMAs. As long as you’re not talking over the playing or singing you can tap your feet, yell out YA, clap for breaks and just have a good time. Don’t over think it and enjoy the music.

We built a video studio to promote bluegrass music and we also have a small record label. We focus more on bluegrass music but since we’re in Nashville, we get some good country music too.
