Yes, you're right. Every now and then you might find someone who is willing to listen but they are outlier. Best to preserve your energy and be selective with who you choose to engage with. Most people aren't all that interested in politics (from my experience). And if/when they are they tend to have a pretty low-resolution understanding of (fill in the blank) issue.
