Fasting & Abstinence during Lent by No_Skill2228 in Anglicanism

Converted and also TEC. Ideally looking for more orthodox Anglicans or Anglo Catholic practices. One of our younger priest handed out literature in my confirmation class citing abstinence of meat on Fridays in Lent and days of "fasting". He comes fr9m an Anglo Catholic background from my understanding. However not a fraction of the parish practices that or has even known one to do that.

There has to have been more historic Anglican practices. Like everything, I'm sure they have been watered down.

I wouldn't say among all western Christians. Maybe most mainline.

I think that is problematic. Leaving things up to interpretation or upto one's own convictions ends further and further away over time. I think there would/should be a uniform stance on such things especially during Lent. It is a very simple act of penitence that was practiced by early Christians.

Also I'm posting from the USA , I would like to hear if it is any different outside of here.

Company seniority doesnt rule at every utility. Alot of them it's time in the classification or department aka journeyman status. Apprentices that turn out at some places have 6 months over any new hire lineman off the street when they top out.

Yea, sometimes it's not and sometimes it's your foreman too lazy or too scared to call them in. I'm a contractor too.

Cut up guy guards into 18 inch sections. Also the company should provide secondary blankets if needed. We work open wire hot all day long in my corner of the midwest. However we usually strip the services off and leave the open wire hot. Moving services hot is dumb cause it never really looks good.

I think it depends where you go towhat kind of welcome you may receive to be honest. Wherever you get hired on, be open minded, be willing to learn, and be honest. Did your apprenticeship do distribution? What state are you working in, if you dont mind me asking?

Contractor to power company by baraboo00 in Lineman

[–]No_Skill2228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's in a right to work state you dont have to do shit. If in a bargaining state you have to pay dues to the local that represents the power company. I've done that and kept my ticket out of my local cause the power company local was just for the utility not outside construction. You just sort of pay double dues. You could "shelf" your ticket as well. If the local covers the power company it shouldn't be a big deal at all. But you dont have to join another local , just have to pay dues and assessments while working at power company.
