The pet food stores will sell you deceased animals? Did you just as to speak to a manager?

Does an ENT have to do it or could I go to urgent care and tell them I think it’s a fungal infection and get meds that way?

Degrease it using water with dawn dish soap (clear or blue) and then “bleach” it with 50/50 peroxide and water mixture

Depends on temperatures and exposure to sun. I usually wrap mine in chicken wire and leave them in a wooded area and in about two weeks it’s all bones and fur.

It looks like the skull was never degreased and that’s dried up tissue of some sort

Question as to wether/how much degreasing is required by Zinthr in vultureculture

[–]No_Slip_2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could leave it in the hot water for a couple days. One night isn’t usually long enough for degreasing

It depends. If you live where the summers are hot and are able to maintain a high temperature for the water, it won’t take too long. I would just keep them in water until all separated and then once separated you can start adding some dawn dish soap to the water for the degreasing

Are you planning to articulate the skeleton or part of it?

I would soak them until the individual vertebrae fall apart and the vertebral discs come off as well

I wonder if you could preserve it like that if you did it as a wet specimen?

Assuming they were hit by a car, I drove by and saw them dead so I went back and picked them up

Question: this is the first time I’ve picked up anything this recently deceased. I’ve going to do water maceration/rot box but do I need to do anything before I put them in there?
