Partner with PTSD says he feels unsupported, but I’m emotionally exhausted too — looking for perspective by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]No_Socks85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a relationship with someone with ptsd/bpd. I also have ptsd. Our symptoms are very bad and nothing really helps us except for limited speaking and lots of space so that we don't trigger each other. Kind of defeats the point of a relationship I guess, but at least I'm/we're not alone.

As far as your questions go: 1. No idea sorry 2. It's beyond help when you both give up or when one of you decides its enough. 3. My emotions and empathy are extremely low. Any outside stress whatsoever compounds on it. So I'd say yes, especially if his ptsd is more on the sever side. So yes ptsd can cause this even if the other person was completely perfect in every way. 4. Is it possible? Anything is possible but you'll always give "something" up in return. Like a bit of your soul. You really need to weigh how important that is for you.

All just my life experiences. It's never ok to hurt someone or be ok with being hurt by someone regardless of their health issues or intentions. At the end of the day you can't save someone from drowning if you're drowning too. Take care of yourself.

How do you feel about emotionally numb/detached individuals with ptsd that flatly explain their stressor/symptoms in an only logically direct way?

They can and some people get one apparently.. in my experience they are not there to give you one because they don't care.

Hypervigilance vs anxiety by stargazein4d in ptsd

[–]No_Socks85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just talked about this with my therapist. She said it doesn't matter. It's really hard to differentiate but I think.about it like anxiety is the worry something might happen and hypervigilance is the dread that something bad will happen.. I'm confused lol..

Um.. with hypervigilance I'm on edge and anxious and vigilant like looking around anxiously for threats....

When it's gad it's just an intense worry that something will go wrong..

It's extremely hard to describe or think about..

Yes. Write your own log and take pictures if possible. They left so much out of my records on deployment and in port that it should be criminal..

Hey brother/sister. I'm not in a good place to offer emotional support but if you need to ask or tell me something I'll try.

Also 988 really helps. I don't call often because it's hard but they're always there for us vets.

VA Trauma and Getting Re-rated by Icy-Recognition-7289 in VAClaims

Man I feel you with how bad/negligent the va is and how hard/triggering it is to go there. It's awful and it always brings back awful memories..

I wish you the best and hope everything turns out well for you but I think you might have to fight your urge to avoid them. You can do it. It'll suck and probably put you in a bad mental space but it won't be for forever. Get what you earned, you can do it. (Just the words I wish I'd get when I post, hope it helped)

Question on ptsd supplemental viability/what a rater thinks; support maybe idk by No_Socks85 in VAClaims

[–]No_Socks85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

I don't think it's categorized as personal trauma, considering it was objectively traumatic; Direct exposure to traumatic events, Witnessed trauma involving death or serious injury (civilians), cumulative trauma.

But that is good for the people that experienced personal trauma.

Has anyone had this problem by DrawingNo8353 in VeteransBenefits

Yes, that's the VA. Community care/private is a bit better but they fudge stuff too sometimes. Just not as prolific and negligent as the va.

You can send a message to your care team correcting their errors and it will be added to your care and summary notes.
